John Cena's Updated WWE Schedule for Retirement Tour and Predictions for Final Shows

Mike ChiariAug 23, 2025

John Cena's retirement tour is quickly nearing its conclusion, as his scheduled appearances will reportedly be down to single digits after next weekend's Clash in Paris premium live event.

According to Wrestle Features, Cena will have just eight dates remaining at the conclusion of Clash in Paris with four of them being major events in the form of Wrestlepalooza in Indianapolis on Sept. 20, Crown Jewel in Perth, Australia, on Oct. 11, Survivor Series in San Diego on Nov. 29 and Saturday Night's Main Event on Dec. 14.

Before Wrestlepalooza was made official, Fightful provided a breakdown of Cena's remaining appearances earlier this month, including next week's SmackDown in Lyon, France, and Clash in Paris, which will see him face Logan Paul:

While Cena's next opponent is known, it isn't yet clear who he will be facing at the final four big events of his career. Here is a rundown of predictions for what Cena will do at Wrestlepalooza, Crown Jewel, Survivor Series and Saturday Night's Main Event.

Wrestlepalooza

Of Cena's remaining PLE or PLE-esque events, Wrestlepalooza feels like the easiest to predict due to what happened at SummerSlam.

After Cena dropped the WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes, Brock Lesnar made his shocking return to WWE programming for the first time in two years and laid Cena out with an F-5.

The first WWE PLE on ESPN is the perfect spot for a Cena vs. Lesnar main event, as it is one of the biggest matches WWE can deliver.

Cena has done plenty of winning and losing during his farewell tour, so the match against Lesnar could conceivably go either way.

However, since it will be Lesnar's first match back in WWE, the most sensible booking decision would be for the Beast Incarnate to come out on top.

Crown Jewel

Having Lesnar beat Cena at Wrestlepalooza becomes an easier choice if there are plans in place for a rematch.

Since it is difficult to envision Cena losing to Lesnar and then immediately moving on to something else, a one-on-one rematch between them is the safest bet for Crown Jewel.

The crowd promises to be particularly raucous since Australia typically doesn't get many major events, and they will almost certainly be firmly in Cena's corner.

If Lesnar beats Cena at Wrestlepalooza, he can afford to take a loss at Crown Jewel. Additionally, it would allow WWE to have a blow-off match between two of its biggest and most decorated stars.

Survivor Series

Although a third singles match between Cena and Lesnar at Survivor Series isn't out of the question, there is a way to make it even bigger and more meaningful.

Survivor Series has been home to the legendary WarGames match in recent years, and competing in WarGames is one of the few things Cena has never done in his illustrious career.

As of now, the nucleus of a WarGames match feels like something along the lines of Roman Reigns, Jey Uso and CM Punk against world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.

It wouldn't be particularly difficult to tie Cena and Lesnar in since Rollins is managed by Lesnar's former manager and longtime friend Paul Heyman. Lesnar could join Rollins' team in that scenario, allowing Cena to align with Reigns, Punk and Uso.

To make both teams the typical five-man units, Jimmy Uso could reunite with his twin brother Jey and cousin Roman, and Paul could become part of Rollins' team to continue his rivalry with Cena.

That would give Cena the chance to team with two Superstars who he has a ton of history with in Reigns and Punk, while facing former rivals in Rollins, Lesnar and Paul, and taking on both Breakker and Reed for the first time.

Cena scores the winning pinfall for his team on Rollins to set up his retirement match at Saturday Night's Main Event.

Saturday Night's Main Event

While WWE has yet to officially announce the location, all signs point toward the Dec. 14 SNME taking place in Boston, which is near Cena's hometown of West Newbury, Massachusetts.

After pinning Rollins in WarGames, Cena becomes the de facto No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship, setting the stage for Cena vs. Rollins in Cena's final match.

Cena and Rollins have battled in many big matches over the years, and according to Andrew Ravens of Newsweek, Cena recently named Rollins one of his "wrestling soulmates."

Because of that, it is only right for Cena to go out against Rollins in a high-stakes match in front of his hometown fans.

Although Goldberg recently fell short in a World Heavyweight Championship match against Gunther in his retirement match on Saturday Night's Main Event, it feels like WWE would prefer Cena to have a different fate.

With that in mind, look for Cena to beat Rollins for the world title in the final match of his incredible career, extending his record to 18 world title reigns.
