Asia-Pacific (Taipei) def. Latin America (Barquisimeto, Venezuela), 7-3
Asia-Pacific became the first participant in the International final after beating Latin America 7-3 to begin the day.
Asia-Pacific's patience at the plate paid off with the team drawing eight walks. They drew a pair of bases-loaded walks in the first inning for two runs before adding another bases-loaded walk in the fourth frame for a 3-0 lead.
Then the bats caught fire in the fifth. Tsai Yu-Ge hit an RBI single for a 4-0 edge. Later in the frame, Chen Qi-Sheng smacked a bases-clearing double for a 7-0 lead.
Latin America fought hard, though, and scored three in the fifth off RBI singles from Saul Vegas Duran and Abraham Rodriguez.
In the end, Asia-Pacific stayed undefeated and earned its berth in the International final.
Metro (Fairfield, Connecticut) def. Mountain (Las Vegas), 7-3
Metro battled back from an early 3-0 deficit to defeat Mountain 7-3 and earn the first United States final spot.
Cache Malan got the proceedings going in the first inning with a three-run homer.
Metro got all three runs back in the third inning after Luca Pellegrini's RBI single and SJ Taxiltaridis' two-RBI single.
Mountain nearly took the lead in the third after an Ethan Robertson single, but right fielder Ben Herbst threw a strike to catcher Jimmy Taxiltaridis, who put a great tag on the runner to end the threat.
Metro rode the momentum from that game-changing play into the fourth, when Pellegrini hit an RBI single to score what would eventually be the game-winning run.
Metro then added three insurance runs in the top of the sixth courtesy of Tommy D'Amura's solo home run and an RBI triple from Boden Dunlap, who later scored on a wild pitch.
SJ Taxiltaridis got the win on the mound for Metro, throwing 5.1 innings while striking out four.
Caribbean (Santa Cruz, Aruba) def. Japan (Tokyo), 3-0
Diliano Raven broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning with a two-run homer before Emerson Mercado added a solo shot to lead Caribbean to a 3-0 victory over Japan.
On the mound, Arthur Gismar Martha and Jeter Feliciana combined for a three-hit shutout, striking out nine.
Japan threatened numerous times, especially in the fourth inning, when the team loaded the bases with two outs. However, a popout to short ended the potential rally.
Southeast (Irmo, South Carolina) 7, Midwest (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) 6
Southeast advanced past Midwest in walk-off fashion on Wednesday.
Offensively, things were quiet on both sides in the early going. Midwest took a 1-0 lead in the second, and Southeast didn't respond until the bottom of the sixth to force extra innings.
Midwest appeared to put the game on ice in the top of the seventh, mounting a 6-1 lead, but Southeast wasn't going away.
Southeast chipped away at the lead and eventually found itself down just two runs with the bases loaded. Andrew Bogan then delivered a base hit to right field, driving in the game-tying and game-winning runs.
After the win, Southeast will now face the Mountain region with a chance to move on to the Little League World Series semifinals.
