Monday Preview
Chinese Taipei continues its pursuit of a return to the Little League World Series title game Monday when it makes just its second appearance of the tournament against a tough Santa Cruz, Aruba team.
The Caribbean representative tallied eight runs in a victory over Panama and will need to reproduce that offensive output to win Monday. It will not be easy, though, as the Chinese Taipei squad blanked Mexico, 3-0.
In that game, Chang Chun-Po, Lin Chin-Tse, and Chen Qi-Sheng combined to shut out their opponent and set the tone for their campaign in this bracket.
On the American side of the bracket, all eyes will be on the Las Vegas squad of the Mountain Region.
In their first match-up of this tournament, the team bombarded the Great Lakes team from Illinois, scoring 16 runs and allowing one. In their second game, they proved they can eek out a closer victory, beating Washington by a score of 5-3.
Their opponents on Monday are another squad that threw up a big number out of the gate in the Southeast team from South Carolina, who blanked Massachusetts, 13-0. Both teams know how to score, but their latest outing may very well be defined by which one can shut down the opposing offense.
