'Hangman' Adam Page vs. MJF and the Best Ongoing AEW, WWE Feuds

Philip LindseyAug 15, 2025

There's nothing better than an all-time great rivalry in sports or sports entertainment.

At its best, professional wrestling is straightforward and digestible stories of good vs. evil or a contest to prove who's the best. It may seem like an impenetrable niche to onlookers, but those core ideas are relatable to anyone.

Everyone can connect with the ambition to be at the top of their field or traditional archetypes like heroes and villains. More to the point, most of us can understand moments of insecurity and jealousy that feed a need for validation, or an overwhelming hunger to prove all of your doubters wrong.

These are the building blocks for great characters and stories. Sometimes, pro wrestling can deliver the most potent examples of these concepts in the squared circle. It may sound hokey, but the most deft storytelling and the right cast of larger-than-life characters can convince viewers to tune in.

In no particular order, these are our favorite ongoing All Elite Wrestling and WWE feuds of 2025 so far.

Iyo Sky vs. Rhea Ripley

1 of 5

WWE’s use of its women's division hasn't been perfect this year, but Iyo Sky has stood out as one of the best wrestlers in the world.

Her upset win over Rhea Ripley in the main event of the March 3, 2025 episode of Raw was outstanding. It eventually set up a signature win at WrestleMania 41 as women's world champion.

Even more, this gave Rhea Ripley the motivation to avenge her loss to the Japanese star, who has had her number since the 2018 Mae Young Classic.

Sky is an obstacle The Eradicator has never been able to overcome, but their encounters at WrestleMania 41, Evolution and SummerSlam were incredible.

The Australian nearly vanquished her toughest rival before Naomi interfered and cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase, and it's only a matter of time before they face each other again.

Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage

It would be impossible to live up to Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada's iconic feud in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Instead, AEW provided a long-awaited revival on U.S. soil as a part of its biggest event of the year, All In Texas. In the process, Tony Khan and Co. had to deal with the conundrum of introducing such a highly touted rivalry to a new audience and creating a new dynamic that plays off their NJPW lore.

After Omega finally toppled one of the most dominant champions of the modern era at Dominion in 2018, it's difficult to present him as the underdog again. However, his struggle to return as The Best Bout Machine after serious illness made for a compelling new chapter.

The former international champion is also older, and he doesn't have The Elite by his side as he did when he defeated Okada last time. The 41-year-old has lost so much, and he had to adapt against a younger and healthier opponent, who has already seen him at his best.

It will be interesting to see how Omega recovers from his loss and attempts to rise to The Rainmaker's level again in their inevitable rematch under Continental Rules.

Becky Lynch vs. Lyra Valkyria

3 of 5
WWE - 2025 SummerSlam

Becky Lynch's return to team up with Lyra Valkyria to win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship and subsequent split 24 hours later on Raw after WrestleMania was such a bewildering development.

Who would have guessed their trilogy of matches for the women's intercontinental title would become one of the best feuds of the year? The Irish wrestlers stole the show at Backlash and again at Money in the Bank, adding some much-needed prestige to the newly established secondary belt.

Lynch had a legendary run as the women's division's top protagonist. Nevertheless, she also excels as a heel because she understands how to play up the crowd and magnify her opponents' strengths.

Valkyria has thrived as an in-ring performer during this feud, but she has also improved as a character and talker with the increase in screen time. The inaugural women's IC champ has a bright future ahead, and this rivalry proved she could hang with one of WWE's biggest stars.

CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins

4 of 5
WWE - 2025 SummerSlam

The best feuds work when the animosity feels real. To that end, it would be hard to convince us Seth Rollins doesn't really hate CM Punk.

Ever since The Second City Saint returned to WWE at Survivor Series in 2023, Rollins has been hellbent on exposing him as a fraud and exorcising him from the company.

The Visionary has made it his mission to ensure Punk never holds a world title or attains any modicum of success in this homecoming.

Concurrently, Punk seems confused by his obsession because he sees him as a second-rate pretender who never lived up to his hype while he was gone. However, Rollins was a step ahead of everyone at WrestleMania 41 as he aligned with Paul Heyman to prove he is the No. 1 star in WWE.

Some fans may believe this rivalry has gone on for too long, but it's hard to deny it has provided some of the year's highlights. The main event of the debut episode of Raw on Netflix, their brawl during the men's Royal Rumble match, the closing moments of the men's Elimination Chamber match, and Rollins' turn on The Grandest Stage of Them All were all worth the price of admission.

Still, the Money in the Bank cash-in during Night 1 of SummerSlam topped all of that as one of the most memorable moments of 2025.

'Hangman' Adam Page vs. MJF

5 of 5

Adam Page vs. MJF has been a no-brainer since AEW's inception in 2019. It shouldn't come as a surprise that the company's two most successful homegrown stars still have such great chemistry.

The man earmarked to be AEW's top babyface was destined to clash with its longest-standing villain, and their initial showdown didn't disappoint. Reigniting their feud this year during the lead-up to Revolution was a pivotal point for both men.

Hangman needed a proper foil to cement his redemption arc, and MJF desperately needed a change in direction following his interactions with Jeff Jarrett and Dustin Rhodes. Their segments together and acclaimed match at the event put them both back on track and set them on course for a great year.

MJF's drive to expose Page's fans as hypocrites is brilliant because he kind of has a point. Meanwhile, the AEW world champion has masterfully called out his insecurities and half-truths at every turn.

These two truly bring out the best in one another, and they will likely continue to butt heads for years to come.
