WWE's Cody Rhodes Confirms Travis Scott Busted His Eardrum During John Cena Heel Turn

Ahead of his SummerSlam match against WWE champion John Cena this weekend, Cody Rhodes recounted rapper Travis Scott injuring him at Elimination Chamber earlier this year.

During an appearance on Hot Ones (beginning at the 8:53 mark), Rhodes confirmed the longstanding rumor that Scott busted his eardrum and gave him a black eye by slapping him during Cena's heel turn segment at Elimination Chamber:

"I wish I could tell you it wasn't true because I wanted anyone else to have the credit for that," Rhodes said. ... "But my man Travis, who nothing but love for, he has a big old hand. So yes, it did bust my eardrum."

Rhodes went on to explain that he didn't give Scott a "receipt" in the form of a stiff punch or slap in return because he wants Scott and other celebrities to feel welcome in WWE and to keep coming back.

At Elimination Chamber, Rhodes had to give The Rock his answer regarding whether he would "sell his soul" to The Final Boss.

The Rock was accompanied to the ring by Scott, and Cena was also present after winning the Elimination Chamber match. When Rhodes turned The Rock down, Cena attacked Cody at Rock's behest, turning him heel for the first time in over 20 years.

Then, the trio of Cena, The Rock and Scott took turns punching, kicking and whipping The American Nightmare while he was down.

At WrestleMania 41, Rhodes got some measure of revenge by hitting him with Cross Rhodes, but the distraction Scott created was enough for Cena to take advantage and beat Rhodes to become a record-breaking, 17-time world champion.

After WrestleMania, The Rock said on the Pat McAfee Show (h/t Ringside News) that Scott was set to begin pro wrestling training with WWE Hall of Famer Booker T in anticipation of starting an in-ring career.

However, Scott has not been seen on WWE programming since WrestleMania, and Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t WrestleTalk) recently reported that WWE and Scott had a "full falling out."

It is fair to wonder if Scott will ever be seen on WWE television again if the report is true, but even if he isn't, he left made a massive impression on Rhodes and WWE as a whole.
