Jelly Roll Rolls
While WWE has always been known for celebrity crossovers, the company has ramped up the frequency of the appearances and now allows its most famous guests to get in the ring and make a mockery of the sport.
At SummerSlam, Jelly Roll will not only earn a victory, but he will also make Drew McIntyre—one of the company's brightest stars—look like a fool, possibly impacting how the WWE Universe views his character.
Triple H's reliance on celebrity interactions may, in theory, attract more mainstream attention, but it's making the week-to-week programming less enjoyable for fans who tune in regularly.
The tag team match will also feature Randy Orton and Logan Paul, which means it will have fun spots and memorable moments, but it will build to nothing and make McIntyre look ridiculous instead of the company's second-best heel.
WWE needs to drastically reduce celebrity dependence once it gets the Jelly Roll rub.
Cody Rhodes Steals the Show
The main event of the weekend will be Cody Rhodes' redemption storyline reaching its next level by beating John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
For the second time in two years, look for the former All Elite Wrestling star to finish his story.
The problem for fans is the lack of vested interest in the program between Cena and Rhodes. The WWE Universe has seen the two men battle previously, and the redemption arc is disregarded since the outcome is so telegraphed.
There is no doubt The American Nightmare will walk out with the world title around his waist.
The problem for Triple H and WWE Creative is what they do once Rhodes wins, as the company previously proved after he beat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 that the follow-up will fail if it doesn't leave a profound impact.
While Rhodes will walk out of SummerSlam with the championship, the identity of his next opponent and the storyline attached will make or break his next run as world champion.
