Russell Westbrook Contract Reportedly Interests Kings After Schroder Sign-And-Trade

Russell Westbrook could be the perfect addition to the Sacramento Kings following the team's acquisition of Dennis Schröder in a sign-and-trade deal, according to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel.

The 36-year-old former NBA MVP spent last season with the Denver Nuggets and is now being eyed by the Kings as a potential addition ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Malcolm Brogdon is also reportedly on Sacramento’s radar.

"Russell Westbrook and Malcolm Brogdon are the two players who have come up the most in conversations about how the Sacramento Kings will fill out their roster this offseason," Siegel wrote. "The word from NBA Summer League regarding the Kings is that they still want to add Westbrook even after their sign-and-trade to acquire Dennis Schroder from the Pistons."

The Kings lacked a true point guard before signing Schröder, following the departure of franchise star De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs last season.

Malik Monk had been filling in at the position, with Schröder expected to serve as the backup ball handler. If Westbrook were to arrive in Sacramento, he would likely take over as the starting point guard, shifting the rest of the starting five up accordingly while bumping Keegan Murray out of the lineup.

Meanwhile, Schröder and Westbrook have shared the court multiple times throughout their careers — in Oklahoma City (2018-2019) and with the Los Angeles Lakers (2022-2023) — and would likely mesh seamlessly once again in Sacramento.
