Klay Thompson Responds to Kevin Durant's Comment Saying He Was 'Never an MVP Candidate in Nothing'

Klay Thompson apparently isn't thrilled with how his former Golden State Warriors teammate Kevin Durant is talking about him on social media.

Thompson responded to an Instagram comment in which Durant, while comparing the dynasty Warriors to the current Philadelphia 76ers roster, wrote Thompson was "never a MVP candidate in nothing."

"Aye man u good?" Thompson wrote on his Instagram story, tagging Durant before adding: "What u using my full government for??"

Durant joined the Warriors ahead of the 2016-17 season after the team had finished the prior campaign with a historic 73-9 record.

He argued in his Instagram comment the current Sixers roster is more dominant on paper than that Warriors team, which went on to win back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018.

Durant noted Joel Embiid was named MVP in 2023, Jaylen Brown won Finals MVP in 2024, Tyrese Maxey is a two-time All-Star and "we all know what [LeBron James] does."

The Warriors roster Durant joined in 2016 featured a reigning MVP in Stephen Curry in addition to Thompson, who averaged 22 points per game during the Warriors' 73-win season.

One major difference between Durant and James' respective signings is that the Warriors were one season removed from a championship when Durant arrived in the Bay Area.

The Sixers had not won a title since 1983 before adding Brown and James this offseason. The franchise is now hoping to compete for its first championship with this star-studded roster next spring.
