Too Much Seth Rollins, Not Enough Goldberg, LA Knight Is Red-Hot, More WWE Raw Takes

Kevin BergeJul 8, 2025

The Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, Rhode Island played host to the July 7 edition of WWE Raw on Netflix where Seth Rollins' group continued to dominate the red brand.

The Visionary sent Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed to break Sami Zayn and Jey Uso. They did serious damage to both men, but LA Knight got the last laugh by blasting Rollins with a BFT after the heel's main event win over Penta.

Goldberg confronted Gunther and sent him packing just days before his retirement match at Saturday Night's Main Event against The Ring General.

Becky Lynch, Bayley and Lyra Valkyria exchanged blows, with The Valkyrie standing tall ahead of the Women's Intercontinental Championship Triple Threat at Evolution on Sunday.

This was a rushed night of action that still set a clear vision for the upcoming packed wrestling weekend.

Overexposure Could Ruin Seth Rollins' Momentum

1 of 4

Seth Rollins' group is the hottest angle in WWE, but it is also the only big story on Raw right now.

This has led to too much time spent on this one storyline rather than building others to draw fans in.

Even on the go-home show before Evolution, half the show was focused on just this group while Sunday's expected main event, Rhea Ripley vs. Iyo Sky, only got a video package.

This kind of overexposure can cause fans to turn against even the best-written stories, and WWE has already struggled to keep the initial momentum of the angle post-WrestleMania.

Give Rollins' group the opener or the main event, but it should not be both. Three matches and a lengthy in-ring promo is too much.

If this change does not happen, fans will reject the story, especially while rooting for underused stars like Karrion Kross, Stephanie Vaquer, Sheamus and Sky who would benefit from more time.

LA Knight Already Feels Like Bigger Babyface Than Jey Uso and Sami Zayn

LA Knight continues to invade Raw with reckless abandon and made the biggest splash of anyone this week.

While supposed babyface world title contenders such as Sami Zayn and Jey Uso got destroyed by Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, The Megastar laid out Seth Rollins and left the ring unscathed.

The crowd was completely behind Knight in this moment. Meanwhile, Zayn's other rival, Karrion Kross, was cheered over him.

Uso is still popular, but his credibility is waning. His world title reign already feels like a distant memory and barely a threat to Gunther.

WWE may have already pivoted to Knight as Rollins' top rival for the future, but this hype already makes him a more interesting contender than most on the roster.

The Ring General vs. The Megastar has jumped any rematch for Gunther in terms of potential for the near future.

Becky Lynch, Bayley and Lyra Valkyria Should Main-Event Evolution

WWE announced the return of Evolution on May 24 with less than two months to build the card for the all-female premium live event.

There should have still been time to set up a strong card for this unique show, but the company did not begin announcing matches for it until the end of June.

Rhea Ripley vs. Iyo Sky is presumed to be Sunday's main event, but while it has plenty of history behind it, the match lacks a strong story with limited interactions between the two since WrestleMania 41.

Raw highlighted the difference between this Women's World Championship match and the Women's Intercontinental Championship Triple Threat.

While Ripley and Sky did not appear live on TV, Becky Lynch, Bayley and Lyra Valkyria were talking strong and heated in the ring to sell their feud.

This is the best angle Evolution has, helped by steady development since before WrestleMania.

The only other Evolution angle with heat is Jade Cargill vs. Naomi, and that lacks real stakes compared to the battle for the women's IC title.

The Triple Threat should main-event the PLE, even if both women's world titles are also defended on the night, because it's the story with the most excitement behind it and the highest ceiling to steal the show.

It would also be appropriate for two of the Four Horsewomen to headline this show, as they were both so integral to making women's wrestling what it is today in WWE.

WWE Has Rushed Goldberg's Retirement

4 of 4
Monday Night RAW

Goldberg is retiring on Saturday in Atlanta, and it hardly feels like a major story in professional wrestling.

The multiple-time world champion has barely appeared on TV recently, and his only focus in challenging Gunther at Saturday Night's Main Event has been on the World Heavyweight Championship.

It feels like the actual retirement of Goldberg is an afterthought despite what seems to have been months of foresight on this night becoming his final stand.

Saturday Night's Main Event as a whole comes off as an afterthought on a weekend when All Elite Wrestling is delivering its biggest show of the year.

It would have been easy to deliver more pomp and circumstance for this night as something fans need to watch.

Instead, it just feels like another night on an endless WWE calendar, thrown together alongside the rest of a loaded weekend of action that also includes Evolution and NXT Great American Bash in Atlanta.
