4 Wild Predictions for Goldberg's Retirement, WWE SNME, Evolution, AEW All In and NXT

Erik BeastonJul 7, 2025

The busiest non-WrestleMania weekend in professional wrestling is almost here as WWE presents Saturday Night's Main Event, Evolution and NXT Great American Bash, while All Elite Wrestling delivers its biggest show of the year, All In.

With massive cards, big-name stars and high-stakes championship matchups, there are plenty of predictions to go around.

What are some of the most wild and unexpected, though? Let's take a look with this preview of the weekend to come.

Goldberg Wins the World Heavyweight Championship

On a weekend packed with professional wrestling from the top two promotions in the world, the wildest thing that could happen is Goldberg defeating Gunther and winning the World Heavyweight Championship in his retirement match.

While Triple H tends not to put older, part-time wrestlers over his current crop of Superstars, especially someone he has championed like Gunther, there is no such thing as a certainty in the industry.

And if there was money to be made off one more Goldberg championship run, that would be the outcome.

The 58-year-old's diminishing in-ring returns over the last five or six years, coupled with some real life animosity with the WWE chief content officer, makes it less likely, though.

Still, Michael Cole floating the idea of Goldberg winning in an interview at least suggests there is a small possibility it could happen, at which point pro wrestling social media may spontaneously combust.

Evolution is WWE's Best Show of the Weekend

To say the build to Evolution has been underwhelming would be an understatement. It has been rushed, thrown together even, and feels like an afterthought with Saturday Night's Main Event looming the night before.

There has not been an abundance of creative care put into Sunday's premium live event, feeling more like a special one-off than an opportunity to launch women-centric stories and provide satisfying conclusions to others.

However, with Rhea Ripley up against Iyo Sky for the Women's World Championship, WWE women's champion Tiffany Stratton defending against Hall of Famer Trish Stratus, and women's intercontinental champion Becky Lynch facing Bayley and Lyra Valkyria in a Triple Threat, there is potential for the event to exceed expectations and emerge from a busy weekend as the best WWE production.

With Sean Ross Sapp reporting on The Humpfelt "set up" with the show taking place on the same weekend as AEW All In, not to mention across the street from a Beyonce concert in Atlanta, expect there to be motivation to prove why this should be an annual event rather than something that takes place once every seven years.

Jon Moxley Does Not Lose AEW World Championship to Adam Page

3 of 4

The worst possible outcome to come from the main event of All In would be for Jon Moxley to defeat "Hangman" Adam Page and retain the AEW World Championship.

The Death Riders' run atop the company has not exactly been what was expected, with fan backlash and frustration rearing its head at times, particularly amid incessant run-ins, overbooked nonsense and Moxley always managing to retain the title.

In Page, fans have a homegrown star they believe has more than earned the title to pay off his redemption arc and bring about a new era in AEW.

With a Texas Deathmatch booked for the main event of the show, which would allow Page to counter the Death Riders' interference with friends of his own, the seeds are planted for him to win the world title for a second time.

With Darby Allin on his way back to the company, per Sapp of Fightful Select, there is the chance Tony Khan and his creative team opt to have him be AEW's saving grace against the heel faction and put the title on him.

If so, that means Page loses.

This feels like less than a sure-thing prediction than the others, if for no other reason than AEW's history of providing fan service moments at its biggest shows. Still, it should not surprise anyone if Moxley retains and continues his run as champion.

Blake Monroe Turns Heel

4 of 4
NXT

If ever there was a show that existed solely to counter program AEW's All In, it's NXT Great American Bash.

The show, not-so-coincidentally streaming at the same time as the most important EVENT on the AEW calendar, is a mishmash of matches with little to no real impact on any ongoing storylines.

Oba Femi is defending the brand's world title against Yoshiki Inamura, Sol Ruca puts her NXT North American Championship on the line against Izzi Dame, and a contract signing for the TNA World Championship match between Joe Hendry, Trick Williams and Mike Santana is on tap.

The one contest with potential consequences across NXT programming is the tag team match pitting Fatal Influence against the team of Jordynne Grace and Blake Monroe.

Grace is the No. 1 contender to Jacy Jayne's NXT Women's Championship, but Monroe has made it clear she also opposes the heel faction and wants a shot at the title.

Considering Monroe's best work in AEW as Mariah May came as a villain, it's only a matter of time before she reverts back to that side. What better way for NXT to make waves than by turning heel on Grace and setting up a three-way dance for the NXT Women's Championship?

Especially if the long-term direction of the division is Grace vs. Monroe at the top?

Perhaps it's too early but on a show with little else going on, it would be the one noteworthy occurrence to get WWE fans buzzing about an event that figures to be lost in the shadow of All In.
