Terence Crawford Says He'll Be on Boxing's 'Mount Rushmore' if He Beats Canelo Alvarez
Terence Crawford believes that he'll be viewed as one of the greatest boxers ever if he's able to defeat Canelo Alvarez in their highly anticipated fight on Sept. 13.
Crawford said that he'll be on "Mount Rushmore" with a win over Alvarez at a press conference on Friday.
Alvarez's undisputed and Ring super middleweight titles will be on the line in the bout, which will occur at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Crawford, the former undisputed welterweight and light welterweight champion, is moving up two weight divisions for the bout.
Alalshikh's Riyadh Season, UFC CEO Dana White and Sela will be co-promoting the fight. It will also feature a belt worth approximately $188,000 for the winner and contains a knockout bonus.
Crawford enters the bout with a perfect 41-0 record, including 31 knockouts. The southpaw's last fight occurred against Israil Madrimov in Aug. 2024, winning via unanimous decision and claiming the WBA junior middleweight title.
Alvarez owns a 63-2-2 record of his own to go along with 39 knockouts. He became the undisputed super middleweight champion for a second time by defeating William Scull on May 3, his latest fight.
Alvarez hasn't lost a bout since May 2022, falling to Dmitry Bivol after challenging him for a light heavyweight title.
His only other career defeat occurred against Floyd Mayweather in 2013.
Given Alvarez's impressive résumé, Crawford thinks he should be viewed as one of the sport's all-time greats if he can take him down in Las Vegas.
