Deontay Wilder vs. Herndon Odds, Live Stream and KO, Judges' Scorecards Predictions
Deontay Wilder isn't ready to call it quits just yet. The former WBC champion is set to return to the ring in a 10-round fight against Tyrell Herndon on Friday night in Wichita, Kansas.
It's a bout that shows how far Wilder has fallen in recent years. The 39-year-old has shared a ring with Tyson Fury three times and will be entering this fight at 1-4 in his last five bouts.
Still, the American believes that he still has more to accomplish in the sport. Getting back in the win column would be the first step in an unlikely journey back to the title picture.
Let's take a look at the important information you'll need to catch the fight and preview Wilder's latest attempt at a comeback.

Wilder has experienced a tough fall from glory over the last five years, but even a competitive fight against a fighter of Herndon's caliber would be a disaster.
For the former champion, this bout is about showing the boxing public that he can still turn out the lights of opponents. If Herndon is actually able to survive the entire 10-round fight it could be the end of Wilder's career.
Wilder started his career 42-0-1, but finally tasted defeat in his second fight Tyson Fury. His rival knocked him out in the seventh round before wining the third by 11th-round knockout.
For Wilder, the back-to-back losses to Fury sent him to a tune up bout against Robert Helenius. He won by first-round knockout and generated some buzz that he could get back in the title picture.
Unfortunately, that buzz was killed when he followed it up with a unanimous decision loss to Joseph Parker. The loss to Zhilei Zheng on a high-profile Riyadh card was even more devastating.
Despite those challenges, Wilder hasn't given up. A change in approach and a reduction in his inner circle has given him new life.
"I want [people] to say that I [never gave] up at all," Wilder explained to Ariel Helwani (h/t Darshan Desai of Yahoo Sports). "I got up on these bended knees and I got up ... and got myself back out there, each and every time, because I wasn't satisfied with the last performance or the last thing I've done."
Odds are, this is going to be the kind of bout that will be used to set up a next step for Wilder. His stock has take a severe drop based on his most recent performances. It makes sense to give him another tuneup to build some hype at this point.
Herndon is a regional journeyman with a second-round TKO loss to Richard Torrez Jr. on his resume.
If Herndon had a hard time dealing with Torrez's power and offense then he has little chance of even extending a fight against Wilder.
Don't blink. Expect Wilder to come out swinging early and often. He'll want to get this one over with.
