Sunday's contest featured several memorable moments, with LSU clinching its victory with an impressive pitching performance from Junior right-hander Anthony Eyanson as well as a four-run fourth inning.
While both teams failed to score in the first inning, there was still plenty of action to start the game. In the bottom of the opening frame, Coastal Carolina head coach Kevin Schnall and first base coach Matt Schilling were both ejected during an argument with multiple umpires.
The Chanticleers got on the board first with a solo home run from Dean Mihos in the bottom of the second inning, but the Tigers quickly responded with a game-tying RBI double from first baseman Ethan Frey in the top of the third.
LSU finally took its first lead of the game in the fourth inning, jumping out to a 5-1 advantage due to two-run singles from Chris Stanfield and Derek Curiel.
Later in the sixth inning, Stanfield also had the opportunity to show off his defensive skills.
Coastal Carolina's lineup displayed its power at the plate once again during the bottom of the seventh, with Wells Sykes launching a two-run home run that made the score 5-3.
The Chanticleers couldn't get any closer, though. They started the bottom of the ninth with a runner on first, but a game-ending double play quickly put an end to hopes of a late rally.
Eyanson stepped up for the Tigers, racking up nine strikeouts compared to just one walk while allowing three earned runs in 6.1 innings of work.
Chase Shores was also sharp out of LSU's bullpen, allowing just one hit in 2.2 scoreless innings.
The Tigers have now won eight baseball national championships in program history.
