PSG Beats Inter to Win 2025 Champions League Final as Fans Hail Historic Performance

Mike ChiariMay 31, 2025

Paris Saint-Germain crushed Inter Milan 5-0 in the 2025 UEFA Champions League final at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, on Saturday to secure the top title in European soccer for the first time in the club's 55-year history.

Saturday marked the most one-sided UCL final of all time, as no team had ever won by more than four goals before PSG's onslaught.

With the win, PSG also completed only the 11th European treble of all time, as they added a UEFA Champions League title to their 2024-25 Ligue 1 and Coupe de France titles.

PSG came out firing early and never looked back, as Achraf Hakimi scored in the 12th minute and 19-year-old Désiré Doué followed it up with another goal in the 21st minute:

Doué, who also assisted on the opening goal, became the youngest player ever to have both a goal and an assist in a UCL final, per OptaJoe:

In the second half, Doué made his already historic performance even more special, as he scored an insurance marker in the 63rd minute to put the match away and cement himself as the first player in UCL final history to have involvement in at least three goals:

If that wasn't enough, PSG scored another for good measure in the 73rd minute, as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia got in on the action:

In the 86th minute, 19-year-old Senny Mayulu added a fifth and final goal for good measure.

Led by San Antonio Spurs superstar and French national Victor Wembanyama, fans hailed PSG and their dominant showing en route to the Champions League title on Saturday with the following posts on X:

Remarkably, PSG's first UCL title came after the departure of one of the best players in the world in Kylian Mbappé.

After spending seven seasons with Paris Saint-Germain and scoring 256 goals for the club across all competitions, Mbappé joined Real Madrid for the 2024-25 season, and PSG subsequently got over the hump as well.

PSG have long been a dominant force in French soccer, winning each of the past four Ligue 1 titles and 11 of the past 13, but it hadn't translated to a Champions League title until Saturday.

Paris Saint-Germain reached their first UCL final in 2020, but they lost a tightly contested 1-0 affair to Bayern Munich.

Five years after that heartbreak, PSG were back in the Champions League final for a second time Saturday, and they earned it with a pair of one-goal victories over Arsenal in the semifinals.

Since Thomas Tuchel took them to the UCL final in 2020, PSG have cycled through multiple managers, as current United States Men's National Team coach Mauricio Pochettino and Christophe Galtier both had stints before the hiring of Luis Enrique in 2023.

Enrique finally got PSG over the hump, and it marked his second career Champions League title as a manager after previously leading Barcelona to a UCL victory in 2015.

As for Internazionale, their lengthy UEFA Champions League title drought continued Saturday, as they have not won it all since 2010.

Inter have three UCL or European Cup titles to their credit, and they have now finished as the runner-up four times, including twice in the past three years.

In 2023, Manchester City beat Inter 1-0 in the UCL final on a second-half goal, but Saturday's match wasn't quite as competitive.

After falling short in their bid for a fourth title once again, Inter will go back to the drawing board, while PSG will now celebrate the biggest triumph in club history.
