US Open Tennis 2026 Results, Monday's Bracket Winners, Losers and Highlights

On Monday, Karen Khachanov defeated Learner Tien in a five-set thriller, ending the 20-year-old American's remarkable run.

Coco Gauff put on another electric performance, defeating compatriot Iva Jovic in straight sets.

Monday did mark the end of the road for Iga Swiatek and Naomi Osaka, however.

Elena Rybakina dominated Osaka, advancing to the US Open quarterfinal for the first time in her career.

Meanwhile, Qinwen Zheng stunned Swiatek in straight sets to continue her Cinderella run.

Karen Khachanov defeated Learner Tien in a five-set thriller to reach the US Open quarterfinal for the first time since 2022.

Tien made the former top-10 player work for it with his grit and his relentless defense; however, Khachanov's experience and forehand aggression proved superior.

That was far from the only entertaining match, however.

On Grandstand Court, Botic van de Zandschulp defeated Arthur Gea in 5 hours and 13 minutes.

In the fourth-longest US Open match ever, van De dandschulp overcame a two-set deficit and fought a match point to pull off the unlikely win.

It's just the second time the 30-year-old has reached a Grand Slam quarterfinal, after reaching the 2021 US Open quarterfinal as a qualifier.

The quarterfinals begin Tuesday on ESPN, with all matches also being available on ESPN Unlimited.

Ben Shelton put it perfectly.

"It's going to be fireworks," the 23-year-old said, previewing his highly anticipated quarterfinal clash with Carlos Alcaraz.

Shelton enters on the heels of a dominant straight-set win over Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The top-ranked American hit 12 aces and won 84 percent of first-serve points.

But the real difference maker was his consistency. Shelton committed just 17 unforced errors.

Like Shelton, Alcaraz is also coming off his most dominant win of the tournament.

In what was supposed to be his toughest challenge yet, the defending champion dispatched Tommy Paul in three sets.

Alcaraz eased all concerns about rust following his four-month absence due to injury, displaying his blistering forehand throughout the match.

Alcaraz has won 18 consecutive major matches and enters this quarterfinal duel as the overwhelming favorite.

Meanwhile, Ben Shelton is 0-17 all-time against top-three-ranked players.

That being said, Shelton is in the form of his life and has significantly improved his return game since these two faced off at the 2025 French Open.

Furthermore, he's well-equipped for the physicality this match will likely require.

If Shelton can consistently hit his first serve and maintain an aggressive baseline game, he has the potential to score a massive upset.

Elena Rybakina delivered a clinical performance in her straight-set victory over Naomi Osaka.

She claimed the opening set in just 21 minutes, dominating with her first serve and powerful baseline groundstrokes while capitalizing on Osaka's early errors.

Osaka found her rhythm in the second set and held serve comfortably until two double faults at 3-3 led to a crucial service break.

That proved to be the decisive moment, as Osaka was unable to apply any real pressure when Rybakina was serving for the match.

Rybakina won 87 percent of points on her first serve while hitting 29 winners.

Qinwen Zheng continued her Cinderella run, defeating Iga Swiatek in straight sets to reach the US Open quarterfinal.

Swiatek could not have imagined a better start.

The six-time major champion raced off to a 5-0 first-set lead against Qinwen Zheng, well positioned for another routine victory.

However, for the second consecutive match, Zheng overcame a 5-0 deficit, stunning Swiatek by winning seven straight games to claim the opening set.

In the second set, Swiatek regained her rhythm before Zheng ultimately broke to take a 4-2 lead.

As Swiatek was serving to stay in the match, Zheng broke once more to seal the massive upset.

In the final women's match of the day, Coco Gauff maintained her excellent form.

The two-time major champion defeated Iva Jovic in straight sets to reach her third major quarterfinal this season.

Gauff came out the gates tentative, ultimately losing her first service game.

The 23-year-old American then rattled off the next six games to win the set in dominant fashion.

While Jovic played a much cleaner second set, Gauff's athleticism and return skills were simply too much to overcome.

Gauff has now won 10 consecutive matches without losing a set.

While Navarro may take a set, Pegula should be able to advance, considering her current form.
