Adam Page and Real Winners and Losers From AEW Double or Nothing 2025 Match Card
AEW went to the desert for its first PPV in Phoenix, Arizona for this year's Double or Nothing.
Not only did we get Anarchy in the Arena, but we saw the finals of the men's and women's Owen Hart Cup tournaments.
With the men's world, international and trios champions tied up in the Anarchy in the Arena match, we only saw a few belts defended at the PPV.
The Hurt Syndicate put the tag titles on the line, Kazuchika Okada defended his Continental Championship, and Mina Shirakawa Challenged Toni Storm for the women's world title.
Let's take a look at some of the real winners and losers from Sunday's event.
Winners: Penelope Ford, Megan Bayne, Anna Jay and Harley Cameron
1 of 7
Double or Nothing's pre-show featured a women's tag match with Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford taking on Harley Cameron and Anna Jay.
In the end, Jay and Cameron scored the win, but all four of these women came away from this match having benefitted.
The women's division in AEW has fought hard to earn more opportunities over the past couple of years, and seeing that pay off with more spots on PPVs for women has been great.
This was one of four matches featuring women's wrestling on the card, and these four women did an excellent job representing the division.
Cameron getting the pin for her team was unexpected in the best way. It felt like this was a guaranteed win for The Megasus, so any outcome that keeps us on our toes is a good thing.
Losers: RPG Vice
2 of 7
Ever since Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero turned heel, it feels like it's even harder for them to get a win than it was when they were following the rules.
It seems like they have been relegated to the roles of the jobbers of The Don Callis Family, and that is a shame because these are two very talented wrestlers.
Beretta has been in AEW for a long time and should have been at least a one-time tag team champion by now. Romero is a decorated competitor who has won gold all over the world, but it feels like these two are as far away from winning titles in AEW as possible.
The eight-man tag match on the pre-show was a lot of fun, but it was another in a long list of losses for RPG Vice.
Loser: Jamie Hayter
3 of 7
Jamie Hayter and Mercedes Mone opened the PPV with the finals of the women's Owen Hart Cup. They put on a fantastic match that highlighted both of their attributes, but in the end, The CEO claimed victory.
With three titles around her waist and a guaranteed shot at the women's world title in her back pocket, Mone is flying high coming out of the PPV. Her opponent? Not so much.
This felt like Hayter's match to lose. She has been on a roll lately and this felt like her chance to get back into the main event scene. Instead, the only two women's titles in AEW will be tied up in the same feud until Mercedes gets her title shot.
Hayter also took what appeared to be a rough bump at the end when an inside cradle turned into a DDT inadvertently, but she seemed to be unaffected after the match.
Winner: Nigel McGuinness
4 of 7
At one point, it seemed like the in-ring career of Nigel McGuinness was over. He had spent 13 years working as an announcer before he stepped back into the ring last year at All In.
Since then, he has competed in four matches, one of which was against his longtime rival, Bryan Danielson.
Getting to have the occasional match while continuing to work as a commentator has allowed McGuinness to prove he can still keep up with the best in the business without having to subject his body to the rigors of working every week.
At this point, it doesn't matter if he wins or loses a match because most fans who have followed his career since Ring of Honor feel lucky just to be able to see him compete again.
His tag match with Daniel Garcia against FTR was a hard-hitting affair that had the crowd on its feet. Garcia and McGuinness may have lost the match, but they still looked strong against one of the best tag teams in the world.
Winner: Mike Bailey
5 of 7
"Speedball" Mike Bailey has been steadily gaining popularity since he debuted with AEW, and he had his biggest opportunity to date when he challenged Kazuchika Okada for the Continental Championship.
This was a win-win situation for Speedball. If he won, he gained his first title in AEW and defeated a top star. If he lost, he still got to have a showcase match against one of the most highly-regarded performers in the entire company.
Bailey has been around for years, but for many AEW fans, he is a new star they still need to get to know. He has plenty of time to achieve his goals, but he has already established himself as a unique and exciting performer.
At the end of the day, Speedball came up short, but he put on an excellent performance and left the PPV looking like a real threat.
Winners: Fans of Anarchy
6 of 7
Anarchy in the Arena has been a car wreck every single time AEW has used this stipulation, and Sunday's Double of Nothing was no different.
The Death Riders, Young Bucks, Opps, Swerve Strickland, Willow Nightingale and Kenny Omega showed up with the intention of making it impossible for anyone to follow them, and they succeeded.
Not only did the match see everyone fighting all over the arena, but a few songs were played during the action that had the crowd on its feet singing and dancing.
The instrumental entrance music of the Bucks started it off, but "I'm so Excited" by The Pointer Sisters followed before Kenny Omega asked for "Bodies" by Drowning Pool to be played.
If you are a fan of AEW, then you were overserved in this match. It had too many memorable moments to mention all of them. This is the kind of match you need to see for yourself because no summary will do it justice.
Briscoe, Hook and Gabe Kidd all made appearances to add to the mayhem. Swerve and Omega's team ended up winning in the end, but nobody left this match a loser. Whether you loved it or hated it, this was a truly unique experience.
Winner: Adam Page
7 of 7
Leading up to Double or Nothing, one of the most anticipated and unpredictable matches was Will Ospreay vs. "Hangman" Adam Page.
Both of these men would make great winners for the Owen Hart Cup, and both men are as popular as they have ever been. Neither one would have been a bad pick from a booking standpoint, so there was no way AEW could lose heading into Sunday.
The wrestling community was split, which made it even more exciting. They also had the benefit of not having to follow Anarchy in the Arena immediately, which helped the vibe in the arena significantly.
They were smart to begin this match slowly and work up to the more exciting spots so they didn't wear the crowd out too quickly. After almost five hours of wrestling, it was still a lively audience in Phoenix at the end of the show.
After several close calls, Hangman was able to secure the win in a stellar match to win the Owen and the right to challenge Mox for the world title. This was an outstanding ending to the tournament and the PPV.
