UFC's Jon Jones Reacts to Being Part of Viral '100 Men vs. 1 Gorilla' Debate in Video

Adam WellsMay 8, 2025

UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is astute enough to know he wouldn't fare well in a one-on-one fight with a gorilla.

After being frequently cited in the social-media phenomenon about 100 men vs. one gorilla, Jones told TMZ Sports he would bring along "a bunch of guys from the NFL roster" and a "bunch of the heavier guys from the UFC roster" to bring down a gorilla "in no time."

The 100 men vs. one gorilla topic has gone around social media before, but it came back in a big way with a viral post on X last month.

The most amusing response from an athlete to this hypothetical scenario was from WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner, who brought back the infamous Steiner math to explain why he would beat a gorilla.

Jones' track record of success in UFC made him a natural answer for who might have the best chance to come out victorious.

The 37-year-old is 28-1 with one no-contest in his mixed martial arts career. He holds the UFC record for most successful title defenses (12) and is one of only three fighters in UFC history to hold the heavyweight and light heavyweight titles, along with Randy Couture and Daniel Cormier.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Jones' career is he returned from a three-year layoff in March 2023, competed as a heavyweight for the first time and submitted Ciryl Gane in the first round to win the championship.

That may not be enough to prove Jones could take down a gorilla, but he's probably got as good of a shot in a one-on-one scenario as anyone would.
