Logano had yet to crack the top five this season and had just one top-10 finish before Sunday, making his first victory of the year a crucial step in his climb back to form. He also racked up 42 stage points in the win.

Here’s a look at the top 10 finishers from Sunday’s race:

1. Joey Logano

2. Ross Chastain

3. Ryan Blaney

4. Kyle Larson

5. Erik Jones

6. Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

7. Austin Dillon

10. Daniel Suarez

Fans reacted to Logano’s first win of the season at Texas Motor Speedway:

Last week at Talladega Superspeedway, Austin Cindric secured a win for Team Penske behind the wheel of the No. 2 Ford. Before Cindric’s victory, Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson had been dominating the Cup Series, each winning two of the previous four races.

Heading into the Würth 400, Chevrolet’s William Byron remained atop the Cup Series standings — a position he’s held for most of the season — with a 31-point cushion over his Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Kyle Larson. Toyota’s Denny Hamlin sat in third, trailing Byron by 52 points.

Following Sunday’s race, the standings saw a major shake-up. Logano climbed to ninth place, sitting 133 points behind leader Byron, who held onto the top spot with a 13th-place finish. Larson closed the gap on Byron after placing fourth and winning stage 2, now trailing by just 13 points. Hamlin dropped back, tied with Chase Elliott at 83 points off the lead.

Here is a look at the Top-10 in Cup Series standings:

1. William Byron (leader)

2. Kyle Larson (-13)

3. Denny Hamlin (-83)

4. Chase Elliot (-83)

5. Tyler Reddick (-84)

6. Christopher Bell (-86)

7. Ryan Blaney (-108)

8. Bubba Wallace (-115)

9. Joey Logano (-133)

10. Alex Bowman (-137)

At Texas Motor Speedway, Cindric claimed the Stage 1 win, collecting 10 points, while Larson took the Stage 2 victory, also earning 10 points.

Logano started in 27th position, recording his fastest lap of the race at 28.97 seconds and led seven laps before claiming victory.

The race was filled with chaos as the third stage turned into a wreck-filled stretch. On lap 172, Bubba Wallace brushed the wall, triggering a chain-reaction crash involving Noah Gragson, Alex Bowman and AJ Allmendinger, with Chad Finchum also sustaining damage. All five drivers were forced to retire to the garage.

Earlier, Hamlin suffered his first DNF of the season after his car caught fire. In total, the wild day saw 12 caution flags fly.

The action will resume next Sunday at the Adventhealth 400 at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City.
