John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes Set for WWE WrestleMania After Elimination Chamber Win
John Cena outlasted five other Superstars to win the men's Elimination Chamber match on Saturday and earn an Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41.
Saturday's match came down to Cena vs. CM Punk, who showed each other a sign of respect after combining to eliminate Seth Rollins and set up their duel.
Despite being eliminated, Rollins went after Punk when he was hanging on the ropes after freeing himself from Cena's grasp.
The Visionary hit Punk with a Stomp on the steel just outside the ring, and Cena took advantage, locking in an STF. The referee called the match after The Best in the World was put to sleep.
Afterward, Rhodes came to the ring and had an amiable interaction with Cena, with the two shaking hands.
That, of course, didn't last, as Cena turned heel and viciously attacked Rhodes after The American Nightmare emphatically refused The Rock's offer to become his corporate champion.
With 2025 men's Royal Rumble winner Jey Uso choosing world heavyweight champion Gunther as his WrestleMania opponent, it meant the Elimination Chamber winner would get to challenge, arguably, WWE's top star in Rhodes.
Over the past several weeks, many of the best performers WWE has to offer have competed in Elimination Chamber qualifying matches, and it made for a stacked field in the men's match.
Cena was the only participant who did not have to qualify, as WWE head of creative Triple H allowed him to enter the Chamber match based on his legendary career and overall body of work.
Conversely, Punk, Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre, Damian Priest and Rollins all had to earn their way into the bout.
Punk beat Sami Zayn; Paul defeated Rey Mysterio; McIntyre won a Triple Threat against LA Knight and Jimmy Uso; Priest took down Jacob Fatu and Braun Strowman in a Triple Threat; and Rollins got past Finn Bálor to qualify.
Of the six Superstars in the match, Paul was the only one who has yet to win a world title, which speaks to the caliber of wrestler involved.
It was perhaps the most stacked men's Elimination Chamber match of all time, and a strong argument could be made for essentially any of the six participants to win.
Cena entered Elimination Chamber as the favorite due to the angle of him trying to break the record for most world title reigns, and he will indeed get that opportunity on The Grandest Stage of Them All.
Given his real-life friendship with Rhodes, Cena's final WrestleMania match figures to be a special one, particularly if he ends it by becoming a 17-time world champ.
