NBA Rumors: Latest Buzz Surrounding David West, Amar'e Stoudemire and More
Aside from LeBron James, who seems pretty content to remain a free agent a little while longer, the biggest names are all off the open market following an agreement between LaMarcus Aldridge and the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday.
While most teams were left in the dust—hopefully the city of Phoenix has a good recycling center—in the wake of the Aldridge deal and others, plenty of viable options remain available in free agency. Sure, the remaining players may not be big-ticket starters, but they'll provide valuable depth for the coming season.
Now that a bevy of NBA franchises are contacting players in hopes of carrying out a Plan B, new rumors have begun to surface around the Web. That said, let's take a look at a few interesting pieces of gossip from trusted NBA insiders.

Knicks Haven't Lost in a Month 🤷♂️
Cavs Going in on David West?

David West is a name we will likely be hearing many times in the coming days. The 6'9" power forward has enjoyed a productive career and is capable of playing either as a starter or a rotational player. He's coming off a season in which he averaged 11.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 47.1 percent from the floor for the Indiana Pacers.
Many teams are viewing West as a solid option after missing out on the Aldridge and DeAndre Jordan sweepstakes, and Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon-Journal reported a few teams were interested in the veteran's services:
""The Cavaliers are interested in the free agent forward, a league source confirmed. The interest appears mutual, although USA Today reported the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors are also high on West’s list. The Spurs are still in pursuit of West even after landing LaMarcus Aldridge on Saturday."
"
While the Cleveland Cavaliers may be interested, let's revisit the James situation quickly, as it may affect a potential deal here. Take a peek at this tweet from ESPN's Brian Windhorst:
Will the lack of recruitment by James affect West's ultimate decision? The power forward is in the twilight of his career and wants to play for a winner, which makes Cleveland an intriguing destination. However, San Antonio and Golden State will likely be equally as appealing.
Amar'e Stoudemire to Clippers?

Amar'e Stoudemire is yet another big man who will be viewed by many squads as a nice contingency plan after missing out on Aldridge and Jordan. The 13-year veteran is an intelligent player and still capable of producing at a high level. He spent the majority of last season with the New York Knicks, appearing in 36 games and starting 14 while averaging 12.0 points and 6.8 rebounds with a field-goal percentage of 54.3.
While Stoudemire shouldn't be considered a starting option, he'll bring nice value as a bench player for a team in need of depth. After losing Jordan, the Los Angeles Clippers are certainly in that category, and Ben Bolch of the Los Angeles Times tweeted the team's interest:
Several other teams have also been linked to Stoudemire, including the Lakers, Mavericks, Spurs and Suns; however, Bleacher Report's Jared Zwerling tweeted an interesting piece of information that may make the Clippers the front-runner here:
Being tight with Chris Paul and having the opportunity to play alongside one of the NBA's most exciting players is a very enticing option for Stoudemire. We should find out if it's enough to lure the big man to Los Angeles in the near future.
Jeremy Lin to Fill Mavs' Void at Guard?

While the Mavericks were one of free agency's biggest early winners with the acquisition of Jordan, the team also lost plenty of backcourt depth with the departures of Monta Ellis and Rajon Rondo. There are some decent options at the guard position on the open market, but Dallas has its sights set on journeyman Jeremy Lin, according to a report from Marc Stein of ESPN.com:
"The Dallas Mavericks are firmly in the mix to sign free-agent point guard Jeremy Lin, according to league sources.
Dallas has limited funds to offer, but sources told ESPN.com that Lin is giving the Mavericks strong consideration even though he can likely make more money elsewhere.
"
Stein cited Lin's relationship with Chandler Parsons from their time together in Houston as the biggest reason why the Mavericks have the opportunity to lure the point guard to town despite their lack of finances.
While Lin has been highly inconsistent during his five NBA seasons, he showed noticeable improvement last season with the Lakers. He finished the campaign averaging 11.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists while shooting 42.4 percent from the floor and 36.9 percent from downtown. He also decreased his average turnovers per game to just 2.2.
