2015 NBA Draft: List of Results and Grades Chart for Mobile Users

Chris RolingJun 27, 2015

At the 2015 NBA draft, the usual suspects managed to come away looking great.

Take the Miami Heat and president Pat Riley, for example, a franchise already brimming with talent and recent championships. Thursday, the front office sat around and watched Justise Winslow fall in its lap.

Or look at general manager Mitch Kupchak and the Los Angeles Lakers. One of the Association's legendary franchises kick-started a rebuild with guard D'Angelo Russell, opening up unlimited opportunities for the front office in a free-agency period littered with star big men.

Below, let's take a look at the full draft results and grades in easy-to-view tables.

Draft Grades

Atlanta HawksBAtlanta reinforces the roster with quality depth at decent value in the second round of a quiet draft for the franchise.
Boston CelticsBThings didn't work out for the Celtics the way they would have liked, to say the least. For now, another point guard creates more confusion than answers. R.J. Hunter later in the round goes down as a steal, though.
Brooklyn NetsB-Brooklyn entered Thursday one of many teams with potential moving parts, so grabbing a forward in the opening round provides insurance.
Charlotte HornetsB+The Hornets wanted a talented big man to start next to Al Jefferson and got it with Kaminsky. No arguments make sense.
Chicago BullsCNobody can say the Bulls don't have great power forwards. It's a bit of a head-scratching move from a need standpoint, although Bobby Portis will shine in time.
Cleveland CavaliersBThe Cavaliers made the most of their picks, picking up one of the most underrated big men in the class to rebuild the roster's depth.
Dallas MavericksAFor a team wanting to continue to contend, a pro-ready player on both ends of the court was the smart way to go.
Denver NuggetsAIn the matter of an instant, the Nuggets go from chaos to stability thanks to landing one of the biggest steals of the draft, at perhaps the league's most important position too.
Detroit PistonsBIt seems things didn't work out the way the Pistons would have preferred in the first round, but the value and upside are solid.
Golden State WarriorsBThe rich get richer, with the Warriors picking up great value at a poor spot, shoring up the roster for future departures too.
Houston RocketsB-Houston gets good value with Sam Dekker, who can come in and act as a reliable scorer right out of the gates.
Indiana PacersB-The Pacers chose upside with Myles Turner, a talented big man who can help right away, if not morph into one of the best players in the class in a few years.
L.A. ClippersN/AN/A
L.A. LakersBThe Lakers threw a curveball at No. 2—one nobody can complain about. With point guard secure for years, the front office can go nuts luring star big men to town.
Memphis GrizzliesB-Securing the future behind Zach Rudolph with a high-upside prospect makes perfect sense in the first round.
Miami HeatA+Pat Riley strikes again, this time landing one of the most talented players in the class well out of his stock range. So long as free agency works out, the Heat are in for a big run.
Milwaukee BucksCThe Bucks got wild in the first round at a position of need with an unknown name, which sounds about right for one of the league's confusing teams in transition.
Minnesota TimberwolvesASometimes doing the obvious thing isn't a bad thing. Minnesota improves with KAT on board. Adding a pro-ready point later? Icing on the cake.
New Orleans PelicansCQuiet draft for the Pelicans, who will receive some sort of compensation for making a late pick.
New York KnicksB-NOW everyone can label the Knicks as losers for landing at No. 4. The board didn't fall the way they would like, and they're forced to play the long-term outlook after taking a bit of a project player.
Oklahoma City ThunderAGrabbing a backup point guard who scored at will in college and projects well to the pros means the Thunder used the pick in a smart manner.
Orlando MagicBOrlando hit on areas of need to further complement a budding young roster. Sprinkle in good value too.
Philadelphia 76ersBWhat, expect the 76ers to have a normal draft? Best player available continues to be the approach, and it's hard to argue with the commitment.
Phoenix SunsB-One of the deeper teams lands a key contributor off the bench who can shoot at will. Best of all? Great value.
Portland Trail BlazersBGiven the unknown element at power forward moving forward, Portland did well to knock its first-round pick out of the park.
Sacramento KingsAIt's impossible to know what the future holds for the Kings, but Willie Cauley-Stein provides a nice defensive complement next to DeMarcus Cousins for now.
San Antonio SpursBSo it goes for the Spurs as the team continues to grab talent its way. The long-term grade figures to stand better than the current.
Toronto RaptorsBToronto took care of a position of need in the opening round, securing the future behind Kyle Lowry, a smart move given the current roster.
Utah JazzB-One of the league's deeper teams gets better with the addition of Trey Lyles, who comes at a position of need too.
Washington WizardsB+Washington does a great job securing the future with Paul Pierce a question mark. Depth underneath the rim never hurts, and neither does getting it at decent value.

Lesser-Known Draft Classes to Watch

Oklahoma City Thunder

Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder don't need much in the way of help per se, but they got it anyway thanks to some sly maneuverings by the front office on draft day.

Cameron Payne out of Murray State fills an immediate need behind Russell Westbrook, both right out of the gates and into the future if the team can't keep the star point guard around. He can do it all as a rookie after averaging 20.2 points last season.

While Payne might be the point guard of the future given his solid all-around skill set, center Dakari Johnson might just be the defensive presence the team needs underneath the basket right away.

At 6'0" and 265 pounds, Johnson can do what he does best as a rookie: clog lanes and swat shots. There's massive upside in time, too, so it explains why the Thunder didn't have any issues pulling the trigger at No. 48, per Royce Young of ESPN.com:

In short, the Thunder shored up two of the most important positions these days. While perhaps they weren't immediate needs, many teams struggle to walk the present-future tightrope well.

It seems the Thunder aren't one of those teams.

Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns wound up as one of the big winners on draft night, although most don't seem to realize it.

Phoenix didn't enter the proceedings with any one major need, but the front office had to love seeing Kentucky's Devin Booker fall down the board to No. 13. He's the same Booker who shot 47 percent from the floor last season and 41 percent from deep.

As ESPN.com's Chad Ford writes, the two parties go together quite well:

"

The Suns needed shooting and they ended up getting possibly the best shooter in the draft. He has deep range and a pure stroke. The question is whether he can do anything else. I'm not sure he'll be an elite defender, playmaker or penetrator. Given the Suns' current guards, having him serve as a sniper from 3 might be enough

"

With sharpshooting from reliable guards so important in today's league, there's no complaining about the selection.

The Suns weren't done there, though, not before selecting Kentucky guard Andrew Harrison and then shipping his rights to the Memphis Grizzlies, per the team on the receiving end of the transaction.

This is about Booker, though, the great value and fit. NBA.com's David Aldridge puts it best:

As a result of a successful Thursday, the Suns are deeper and more dangerous than ever. The front office even took the best player available later in the draft and flipped him into more depth via trade.

While maybe not flashy, it's sure to prove effective.

Houston Rockets

Now this is a case of the rich getting richer.

With a roster already featuring James Harden, Dwight Howard and a bevy of key role players, the Houston Rockets didn't need to do much on draft night.

They did, though, nabbing Wisconsin's Sam Dekker at No. 18. He's yet another quality depth weapon for the Rockets one year removed from averaging 13.9 points and 5.5 boards while shooting a slick 53 percent from the field.

As if getting a player who can function in a Chandler Parsons role wasn't enough, the Rockets then went and grabbed Montrezl Harrell at No. 32, who ranked 17th on Ford's big board before the draft.

Ford captured the thoughts of one NBA general manager on Harrell's future: "But you write him off because of his size. But when you factor in his 9-1 standing reach he's on par with Kaminsky. And you know he has the strength and engine to compete in the middle. I think he could surprise some people and be a Ben Wallace-type big in our league."

Long story short, the Rockets landed two key role players to groom, if not use right away. Not only did both come at great value, in time, they might develop into reliable starters, making the Rockets one of the biggest winners of all.
