Grady Sizemore to Have Multiple Surgeries, Done for Season

If any of the “Grady’s Ladies” have aspirations of getting with Grady Sizemore, well they are just going to have to wait. This is because the Cleveland Indians star CF will be on the shelf for a couple of months.

According to the Akron Beacon Journal, Sizemore will have not one, but two surgeries, thus ending his 2009 season. Sizemore will have arthroscopic surgery to clean out inflammation in his left elbow, which has been an issue all year.

The second surgery Sizemore will have is a bit of a surprise. Sizemore will have an operation for a condition known as athletic pubalgia…ummm yeah.

According to Indians head trainer Lonnie Soloff, “It’s called a sports hernia, but it’s not really a hernia.” It’s an instability of the abdominal wall, and has been causing Grady symptoms.”

If someone could explain what the heck this means, I would greatly appreciate it. The good news for Indians fans is that Sizemore should be at full strength and ready to go by Spring Training 2010.

I actually picked Sizemore to win the AL MVP this year. I thought Sizemore would have his career year in 2009. He was 27-years-old, the Indians were going to compete in the AL Central, and I thought he would have the year Derek Jeter is having with the New York Yankees.

Well, not so much.

Sizemore has been hurt all year and only is hitting .248 in 106 games. Despite hitting 18 home runs in those 106 games, it’s really been a lost season for Sizemore and the Indians for that matter.

I fully expect Sizemore to bounce back and have a very solid 2010 season.
