The Texans will be resting their major weapons, especially since starting quarterback Matt Schaub is nursing a sprained ankle. Taking snaps will be backups Dan Orlovsky and Rex Grossman, who is returning from a hamstring injury. Houston will get a good look at reserve RB Arian Foster, who is contending for the second-string job behind Steve Slaton.

Tampa Bay’s preseason finale will be a test run for quarterbacks coach turned offensive coordinator Greg Olson following the dismissal of OC Jeff Jagodzinski earlier this week. The Bucs will sit starting QB Byron Leftwich and backup Luke McCown, leaving Josh Johnson and Josh Freeman to battle for the right to hold a clipboard in the regular season. Tampa Bay will also rest their three-man rushing crew.

The Texans just have it together a little more right now and firing your offensive coordinator with under two weeks to go before the season starts can’t be good for team morale.

The Pick: Houston Texans SU +145

Dallas at Minnesota – 8PM ET
Betting Line: Dallas Cowboys +135 (+3½ -115) vs. Minnesota Vikings -155 (-3 ½ -105)
Over/Under: 36

The Vikings have a shot at preseason glory with a win Friday night. Minnesota is 3-0 heading into the preseason finale against the Cowboys, but won’t have Brett Favre or Adrian Peterson on the field. The Vikings do have three capable reserve quarterbacks and some talent on the ground. Second-stringer Chester Taylor hasn’t been ruled out and could share carries with third-stringer Albert Young.

Dallas is also resting its starters. Running backs Marion Barber and Felix Jones will be out, leaving the rushing duties to underrated Tashard Choice. The Cowboys have been plagued by injuries this preseason and have major holes to fill before the schedule starts – most importantly at receiver. Dallas currently has two wideouts nursing injuries, one of which is No. 1 target Roy Williams.

With all the question marks for Dallas and some very capable people still playing for the Vikings this one is our lock of the night.

The Pick: Minnesota (-3½) -105

San Francisco at San Diego – 10PM ET
Betting Line: San Francisco 49ers +160 (+3 ½ -110) at San Diego Chargers -190 (-3 ½ -110)
Over/Under: 36 ½

San Francisco’s starters will get a bit of action Friday, namely starting QB Shaun Hill. Hill is still fighting through a nagging back injury and will hand the ball over to the reserve QB Damon Huard since backup Alex Smith is still out with a sprained thumb. Rookie running back Glen Coffee will also play a few sets before coming off the field. He is the preseason’s leading rusher with 230 yards.

For the Chargers, LaDainian Tomlinson has been busy running his mouth this preseason but won’t get to run the ball on Friday. However, Chargers coach Norv Turner told the media he will play most of his other starters for about 15 plays. There is a heated competition behind L.T. with backup Michael Bennett leading the pack. He’s rushed for three touchdowns so far this preseason.

The Chargers are just the better all around team and will prove it tomorrow night, rounding out the parlay pick in style.

The Pick: San Diego (-3 ½) -110
