WWE Elimination Chamber 2015: Breaking Down Biggest Matches on the Card

Donald WoodMay 31, 2015

As the 2015 edition of WWE Elimination Chamber approaches, the excitement surrounding the biggest matches on the card has wrestling fans ready for the pay-per-view spectacular.

From NXT champion Kevin Owens making his main roster in-ring debut against United States champion John Cena to Seth Rollins defending the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Dean Ambrose, this PPV already is more exciting than Payback was earlier in May.

Here is the breakdown of the top matches on the 2015 Elimination Chamber card.

John Cena vs. Kevin Owens

One of the most anticipated matches on the entire card is the champion-versus-champion bout between John Cena and Kevin Owens. For the indy wrestling fans, this will be the main debut of the wrestler formerly known as Kevin Steen.

It will be a surreal moment.

As much as Owens would look incredible beating Cena on his true WWE debut, the NXT champion has gotten the upper hand two weeks in a row. At most, the WWE Universe should be hoping for Cena to win via disqualification because Owens destroys him during the bout.

Instead of Cena just pinning another top heel and killing all of the challenger's momentum, the 15-time champion should understand the magnitude of the situation and either take the loss or at least let Owens get DQ'd.

Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose

Arguably the most anticipated match of the night will be the battle between two former members of the Shield for the company’s top title. With their experience together between the ropes, Rollins and Ambrose could easily steal the show.

In previous matches against each other, the two men have left it all in the ring and showcased why they are both key to the future of WWE. On Sunday, at an impromptu PPV, Rollins and Ambrose will have the chance to showcase their skills again.

With the Authority inevitably set to play a role in the outcome of this match and Roman Reigns also being closely associated with this battle, there will undoubtedly be a convoluted finish that sees Rollins retain the championship.

Intercontinental Championship

As hard as it is to accept that Daniel Bryan has once again been forced to relinquish a title because of injury, the crowning of a new Intercontinental champion in an Elimination Chamber match is exciting.

While there are participants in this match who do not belong in the conversation for the IC title—we’re looking at you, R-Truth—there are several conceivable options that could result in a memorable PPV bout.

The likes of Dolph Ziggler and Rusev could easily be booked to steal the show, which the WWE Universe would buy into, but the favorite is Sheamus. After returning as a top heel, his winning the IC title could help bring prestige back to the secondary championship.
