5 Things for Chelsea Fans to Look Forward to in 2015/16 Premier League Season

Garry HayesMay 29, 2015

The 2014/15 Premier League campaign is barely over, but the sights have already been set on 2015/16.

Transfer rumours are flooding in as clubs prepare to improve on their performance for this term.

For Chelsea, that means retaining their Premier League crown and also going further in the Champions League after a disappointing campaign in Europe resulted in an early exit.

Jose Mourinho's men also lifted the Capital One Cup this season, so the manager will want to improve on that by going closer in the FA Cup.

These are exciting times to be following the Blues, so after a year of success, what will Chelsea fans be looking forward to next season?

Bleacher Report takes a closer look.

Juan Cuadrado Rediscovering His Mojo...Maybe

1 of 5

We've said it before—things can only get better where Juan Cuadrado is concerned.

The Colombian was seen as a major signing in January, yet he has failed to deliver whenever he has featured for Chelsea.

His best display came on the final day of the season against Sunderland, winning the penalty that Diego Costa fired home to pull Chelsea level in the game.

Cuadrado's game was soon cut short by injury, though, meaning his season with Chelsea ended the way it started—with a whimper.

When Jose Mourinho signed Cuadrado, he called for him to be given time to settle. Well, he's had six months in the Premier League, so the time is now (well, actually August, but you get the point) to start delivering.

If he does, Chelsea could have a real talent on their hands, and the squad will be stronger for it.

Can Cuadrado turn things around?

More of the Chelsea Youth Stars

2 of 5

Alongside the trophies Chelsea won in 2014/15, a major positive was the emergence of their youth stars.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Dominic Solanke, Izzy Brown and Andreas Christensen all made their senior debuts, while Nathan Ake remained a part of the first-team squad.

Now those players have enjoyed a year under Jose Mourinho's guidance, we can expect them to be featuring more next season.

The manager has already explained that Loftus-Cheek is a big part of his plans.

These are exciting times to be a youth team star at Stamford Bridge. The club seems to be on the brink of breaking the mould by having a team full of homegrown talent.

It's something Chelsea fans have desired for some time, and it seems to have finally arrived.

Oscar Putting in a Full Season

3 of 5

So, like with Juan Cuadrado, we've been here before with the criticism of Oscar.

We know he's excellent between August and December, but the moment we celebrate the birth of Christ, he disappears over the hills with the three wise men, nowhere to be seen.

It happened in his first season, his second and third.

What frustrates most is that Oscar is so good when on form that he should be contributing throughout the whole campaign.

One theory has been burn out, given that he has played in a summer competition every year he has been at Chelsea.

Well, Oscar's been ruled out of the Copa America this summer, meaning he finally has an entire close season to recuperate and rest those weary legs.

Will it mean Oscar lasts an entire season in Chelsea colours?

An Actual Challenge from Their Closest Rivals...

4 of 5

The video above of Jose Mourinho's Chelsea's Player of the Year speech is excellent. It's Mourinho at his provocative best.

Behind the humour, there is a valid point, however.

Chelsea's rivals didn't give them enough of a challenge in the Premier League this season. Chelsea led from the opening weekend, and none of Manchester United, City or Arsenal, gave them a run for their money.

The Premier League is supposedly the most competitive league in world football, yet Chelsea made a mockery of that reputation in 2014/15.

It resulted in them being dubbed "boring" by some sections of the media (and opposition fans).

That's a subjective view, but what could be boring for Chelsea fans next season is seeing their team walk their way to the title once more.

Someone has got to give them a proper challenge, surely?

...followed by Another Victory Parade

5 of 5

Regardless of the challenge their rivals may or may not give them, it's difficult to look beyond Chelsea as the champions next season.

The 2014/15 campaign is barely in our rear-view mirror, but right now, Chelsea look the strongest side to lift the Premier League trophy.

Jose Mourinho's side is settled, and with one or two additions, they will be even more formidable next year.

As for Manchester City and United, both have plenty of rebuilding to do, while Arsenal are notorious for struggling to compete over a full 38-game campaign.

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are also a way off the pace.

Mourinho joked on Chelsea's trophy parade that fans should make plans for another one in 2016.

Right now, it's hard to bet against him.
