WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from May 27

Erik BeastonMay 28, 2015

With just four days until the biggest match of his entire professional career against John Cena, Kevin Owens dominated Wednesday's episode of NXT, making him the unquestioned biggest winner of the night.

There is a calmness and nonchalance to Owens, especially when discussing things such as the complete annihilation of his best friend Sami Zayn, not to mention announcer Alex Riley and former NXT champion Neville, that makes him one of the most compelling stars the company has produced in years.

The fact that he continues to attribute his actions to the desire to provide a better life for his family, repeatedly mentioning that he is a good man in the process, makes him a layered character the likes of which the main roster could only dream of producing.

Owens was all over this week's show, the centerpiece of the brand just nights before he wrestles the biggest star in professional wrestling at Elimination Chamber.

The complete destruction of Solomon Crowe, the matter-of-fact nature in which he discussed injuring Sami Zayn for the second straight time, and the sincerity with which he denied having anything to do with Hideo Itami's injury helped showcase just how much of a multi-faceted performer he really is.

There is no one on the roster who has gotten over to the level that Owens has, as fast as he has, and the fact that he is starring on both NXT and WWE television should be a surprise to no one.

Winner: Alexa Bliss

Bliss' heel turn at last week's Unstoppable event seemed to come from out of nowhere as she dropped the glitter-fairy gimmick and helped Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy retain the NXT Tag Team Championship over Enzo Amore and Big Cass.

Wednesday night, she proved just how effective a heel she will be going forward, showing off a new attitude as she strutted her way to the ring with the champions for their non-title enhancement match. After Blake and Murphy wiped the ring with Elias Samson and Mike Rallis, she added insult to injury, delivering her Sparkle Splash from the top rope.

To top off her night, she cut a magnificent backstage promo, proving that she has had the microphone skills the entire time, despite rarely being allowed to use them.

Blake and Murphy desperately needed a spokesperson and Bliss is the just woman for the job. That she proved to be such a talented heel just one night into the new role proves that sometimes all it takes to get the best out of a performer is a little push.

Loser: Zack Ryder

Monday night, Zack Ryder had one of the best nights of his career when he challenged John Cena for the United States Championship in front of his hometown fans in Long Island. He lost, but he was put over big time by Cena after the match.

Wednesday night, he had the unenviable task of sharing the screen with a returning Mojo Rawley during a backstage promo, setting up what appears to be a tag team between them.

What did Ryder do to deserve such a fate?

It is one thing to be left off of Raw and SmackDown for two years, wasting away on Superstars and Main Event while watching guys that may or may not deserve to be pushed ahead of you succeed. It is another to be demoted to the developmental brand (no matter how hot it is at the time) and paired with, arguably, the worst wrestler on the entire roster.

The "Stay Hyped" character was stupid before Rawley suffered his shoulder injury and it has not gotten better with time. Now, Ryder will be saddled with getting him over and providing NXT with another tag team for its somewhat underwhelming duos division.

Hopefully the stink of Rawley does not rub off on the former United States champion, who should be doing literally anything else but carrying the former Arizona State football star.

Winner: Emma

Emma's decisive and dominant victory over Bayley Wednesday night is exactly what the Unstoppable tag match from last week's show should have been. With her new attitude and theme music erasing any evidence of the old, bubbly Diva, the Aussie systematically tore Bayley down before forcing a tapout with the Emma Lock.

One of the most talented and criminally underused women on the roster, Emma deserves an opportunity to remind fans what she is capable of and the latest attitude change is a step in the right direction.

Of course, the pairing with newcomer Dana Brooke is questionable but it still keeps Emma squarely in the spotlight, with the potential for a push toward the NXT Women's Championship also possible, so that is a big win for someone who has suffered so much frustration during her year-plus on the main roster.

Loser: Solomon Crowe

If Solomon Crowe was not dead in the water when NXT hit the WWE Network airwaves, he certainly was as the show came to a close, the loser of what was a glorified squash match against Kevin Owens.

Crowe arrived in NXT with so much hype, especially fresh off what was a fairly high-profile Indy career. Management's reluctance to put him on television, then insistence on repackaging him into a computer hacker, hurt him. But nothing was more damaging that switching the character and still not putting him on TV.

Despite some funky theatrics or a promo or two, Crowe finally debuted on the network and has done nothing to impress. Now, after a loss to Baron Corbin two weeks ago and a demolition at the hands of Owens Wednesday night, it appears as though Crowe may be in line for a repackaging, especially if there are any expectations for him going forward.

Otherwise, he may be best suited to request his release and head back to the Indys, where he could rehab his reputation following a disastrous WWE run to this point.
