MLB Baseball Betting: Hottest Teams To Put Your Money On

Handicappers PicksSep 2, 2009

As the month of September gets revved up, the baseball betting action heats up in the march towards the playoffs. Find out which teams are rounding into form as potential playoff teams with BetUS Sportsbook’s list of teams that are on fire. Click here to bet on baseball at Betus online sportsbook

(Rank) (Team) (SU Record, $$$) (SU Record in L/5, $$$)

1: New York Yankees (84-48, +$980) (5-0, +$500 in L/5) The Yankees just continue to mash the baseball like no other team in the league can. The Bronx Bombers rank second in baseball in runs per game (5.70), second in batting average (.281), first in OPS (.841), and first in homers (207). With three more home runs for SS Derek Jeter and one more homer for C Jorge Posada, New York will have an unheard of eight players with at least 20 dingers on the season. 1B Mark Teixeira already has 101 RBIs. He’ll probably be amongst four Yanks to score 100 runs this season as well. Simply put, the Evil Empire is back, and the road to the World Series is going to have to travel through the Bronx.

2: Arizona Diamondbacks (60-73, -$1,473) (4-1, +$372 in L/5) If nothing else, the Diamondbacks have given their fans something to look forward to in 2010. 3B Mark Reynolds blasted his 40 th home run of the season on Saturday, and he’s eight stolen bases away from a 30/30 season. OF Justin Upton should successfully go 20/20 yet again this year. RHP Dan Haren has put up Cy Young caliber numbers in spite of the fact that he only has a 13-8 record, while fellow SPs Doug Davis and Max Scherzer are showing that they can be solid #3 and #4 options behind Haren and the injured Brandon Webb. Before Tuesday night’s 4-3 defeat against the Dodgers, the D’Backs had averaged 8.6 runs per game in their previous five. Winning 75 games this year will be a triumph, but the table is set for Arizona to make another good run at the NL West crown next year.

3: Minnesota Twins (67-65, -$434) (4-1, +$325 in L/5) Two weeks ago, the Twins were six games under .500, and baseball pundits were wondering if C Joe Mauer could win MVP honors in spite of the fact that his team was no more than a third place squad in a lousy division. Now, Minnesota has won 11 of its L/14, it is within 3.5-games of Detroit for the AL Central lead, and Mauer’s .368 batting average gives him a very compelling case to be the AL MVP. Taking the first two games of this three-game set against the White Sox has also effectively removed any hope Chicago had of making the postseason. If the Twins can keep this pitching up (2.4 runs per game allowed in L/5), they’ll be nipping right at the heels of the Tigers and could crash the playoff party once again.

And the rest…
4: Boston Red Sox (77-54, +$927) (4-1, +$307 in L/5)
5: San Diego Padres (58-76, -$657) (3-2, +$274 in L/5)
