WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from May 13
Wednesday night was WWE's last opportunity to hype its NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable live event, and the company did just that, heavily promoting the championship main event between top contender Sami Zayn and his hated rival, titleholder Kevin Owens.
It was Owens who left the biggest impression on the audience Wednesday night, continuing his run as the most intriguing and interesting character in all of WWE.
The soft-talking villain, who claims his motivation is to provide a better life for his family, walked away from Zayn rather than allow his emotions to get the best of him following a comment about his son. He then merely promised to end his former friend and tag team partner's career by exploiting his injury from the last time they met.

Owens is cold and calculating, the complete opposite of the loudmouthed villains who populate Raw and SmackDown.
His performance alone sold his NXT Championship defense against Zayn to the masses, something few performers currently on the main roster are capable of doing. For that reason, he was this week's biggest winner.
Which other NXT Superstars and Divas picked up considerable momentum heading into TakeOver: Unstoppable? And who fell off significantly, leaving them in dire need of some sort of boost at the hands of the writing staff if they are to be forces in the NXT Universe going forward?
These are the biggest winners and losers from the May 13 episode of NXT.

Winner: Carmella
After months of suffering the wrath of an NXT Universe far more interested in cheering the likes of Bayley, Emma and Blue Pants rather than The Princess of Staten Island, Carmella finally turned the fans in her favor Wednesday night when she confronted tag champions Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy, laying the verbal smackdown on the villains.
Frustrated following a loss to Alexa Bliss thanks to a distraction by the titleholders, Carmella unleashed with a promo in which she referred to Blake and Murphy as pigs, then promised that her boys Big Cass and Enzo Amore will beat them and take the tag titles at TakeOver. She ended with the S-A-W-F-T catchphrase before leaving to a strong reaction.
One of the biggest elements of Carmella's performance, and a major reason she connected with the fans in a way she has struggled to of late, was the conviction with which she spoke.
Rather than someone playing a role and trying way too hard in the process, Carmella came across as genuinely angered by the loss and repulsed by the two men so eager to gain the attention of the young woman. She was impassioned as she unleashed on the champions, doing more to put over the tag title match on next week's huge event than anything the writing staff has done to this point.
It was a watershed moment for Carmella, who will have to continue growing and developing as a performer if she wishes to garner the type of response she did Wednesday night on a more consistent basis.
Loser: Solomon Crowe
Wednesday night's defeat at the hands of Baron Corbin, which came in a glorified squash match, served as yet more evidence of NXT management's lack of faith in Solomon Crowe.
After what felt like an eternity, he made his NXT the night after TakeOver: Rival and then proceeded to disappear from the airwaves almost as quickly as he arrived. His appearances have been inconsistent, and he has enjoyed no character development to speak of. No one really knows his motivations for hacking satellite feeds or doing anything else that he does.
In a land of intriguing characters and outstanding in-ring workers, he is a directionless performer whose most recent defeat threatens to kill any chance he has of enjoying any sort of measurable success—especially with new talent being signed to deals seemingly every month.
Winner: Tyler Breeze
For the second consecutive week, Tyler Breeze was the last man standing as WWE builds to the Triple Threat No. 1 Contender's match between him, Finn Balor and Hideo Itami at TakeOver: Unstoppable.
Better yet is the fact that he laid both men out with his trademark offense, then showed a bit of attitude by knocking out his own partner, Adam Rose, with the Supermodel Kick, much to the delight of the NXT Universe.
Commentators have repeatedly praised Breeze for showing more aggression and attitude over the last six months, but every time it looks as though he is gaining momentum, his growth is stunted by questionable booking decisions that cool him off significantly.
While it is unlikely that Prince Pretty earns the next championship opportunity, especially if the plan is to run with Owens as the titleholder for the foreseeable future, the booking of the second-most important heel on the roster will be key in the continued evolution of the character.
A strong performance with booking that supports it will only benefit NXT's resident supermodel and erase any preconceived notions still existing that Breeze is a Zoolander ripoff.
