Babcock Reportedly Takes Toronto Job

Wednesday, May 20

SportsCentre on Twitter reported that Babcock has decided to accept Toronto's offer and will join the Maple Leafs.

Darren Dreger of TSN reported that Babcock's deal is for eight years with a total value of "around $50 million."

As for what Toronto will have to give up for Babcock, Pierre LeBrun of ESPN reported that the asking price for Babcock would be "a third-round draft pick within the next three years."

Babcock has been one of the most successful bench bosses in hockey over the years, with a career winning percentage of .627 over a decade with the Red Wings and two years with the Anaheim Ducks.

He has never missed the playoffs during his tenure in Detroit, and he won the first and only Stanley Cup of his career in 2008.
