Bray Wyatt vs. Ryback Won't Improve Standing of Either Superstar
Bray Wyatt and Ryback are two WWE Superstars who get quite the reaction when they step into the ring. It's a shame that it's the only reaction that occurs when they face each other.
Let's elaborate for a second.
Ryback came up as a tour de force, working his way up to the main event. Now, he rarely participates in events for the WWE Network. It's almost as if he has just become a fixture on Raw. The last time Ryback appeared on a Sunday night event was at Fastlane in February. He, along with Dolph Ziggler and Erick Rowan, lost a six-man tag to Seth Rollins, Kane and Big Show. Pre-shows on the network and YouTube don't count.

Wyatt came up, as well, with The Wyatt Family and taking on world champions since his WWE main roster debut. Now, he's floundering between relevancy and mediocrity. Wyatt lost to the Undertaker at WrestleMania 31 and had to rest after spraining his ankle.
Both men didn't make an appearance at Extreme Rules. Understandably, they needed something to do that would put them in relevancy again. Maybe Wyatt enters the King of the Ring tournament, or Ryback challenges Seth Rollins for the WWE title. Perhaps both enter the tournament and start their feud from there.
WWE Creative took a different approach. They decided to put these two wrestlers together to face off. Wyatt cut cryptic promos on The Big Guy only to attack him on the April 27 and April 30 episodes of Raw and SmackDown, respectively.
The smart money would have them face off May 17 at WWE Payback. It sounds good on paper, but based on their recent trends, it's destined for failure.
Wyatt feuding with Ryback won't improve each other's Superstar standings.
Equally, both Superstars need a victory. Yes, it's predetermined and winning records are irrelevant. Nonetheless, it's their stock that is the issue at play.
What would be the outcome of putting these two together? They've both floundered in the past few months. Wyatt and Ryback both need win. They need fans to maintain and to develop more interest in them.
A win elevates their stock in fans' eyes. It also creates more opportunity to market each man to the masses. Creating more names is the goal, not diminishing them in a meaningless feud.
Maybe there's some hope left, after all.
Wyatt comes off as eloquent in his promo work. He really does hold the whole world in his hands, no matter what he says. He complements that with his physical style.
Wyatt is that hard hitter who can make his matches entertaining. Fans are enthralled with the self-proclaimed “The Eater of Worlds.”
Ryback is a mixed back, on the other hand.
He has stalled ever since falling out of the main event scene. It didn't matter if he was a Paul Heyman guy or on his own. Something was missing with Ryback.
It wasn't until recently that maybe he started to understand how to get the WWE Universe in his grasp.
Ryback started acknowledging the crowd after WrestleMania 31. More notably, he addressed the crowd and cut a revealing promo of facing fear.
It's one small step for Ryback that can pay off in the long haul. Granted, he's not a thespian on the microphone. But if he can articulate his passion more often, the WWE would have another star on their hands.
Unfortunately, WWE Creative put both men in a lose-lose situation. Wyatt needs a credible opponent to get a key victory. Ryback needs to become relevant again.
This isn't the way for either man.
Wyatt potentially facing Ryback won't benefit either Superstar. It'll only hinder their rise to the top of the WWE.
