Kane, The Shield, Neville and More from the High-Flying Mailbag
It's 2015, and Kane is the focal point of WWE storylines. With WWE's main event picture as tumultuous as it has ever been, somehow this works.
Big Red Babyface?
"@ThisIsNasty do you think Kane is really going for a face turn or is it all a setup. Possible authority drops support of Seth Rollins?

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
The Kane storyline is actually being handled well. Following the Royal Rumble, fans seemed like they had their fill of Kane and the Big Show being booked near the top of the card. Since then, Kane has become even more of a focal point, albeit in an authoritative role, and it's working.
Rollins is too much of a whiny prince for a sudden babyface turn to work. If anything, Kane will go babyface and return to his demon roots. I really do think this will lead to a reunion with Daniel Bryan, the latter's health permitting. That would be a smart way to bring back Bryan without the built-in demand for him to compete for a world championship.
It would make sense for The Authority to dump Rollins in favor of Ambrose (as was teased before) or even Reigns. However, I'm not sure Rollins would recover from such a double cross if his world championship run is filled with wins based on technicalities and non-title losses.
A Shield Feud?
"@ThisIsNasty With Ambrose being involved with the authority more do you think creative may book a Shield triple threat soon?
— Hello IT (@DavDav1228) May 4, 2015"
It's tempting, but it seems too early to bring The Shield together. Since the group disbanded, at least two out of the three Shield members have been feuding in some way, shape or form.
There was the long feud between Ambrose and Rollins following The Shield's breakup. Currently, there's tension between Rollins and Reigns after Rollins stole Reigns' moment at WrestleMania 31. A future Shield Triple Threat and/or reunion is inevitable, but it won't mean much if they keep working with one another.
The idea was to use The Shield as a platform to launch three very successful singles careers. WWE seems on its way to doing so, but each will be limited the more they are bound to their roots as a successful stable.
Question of the Week: Is Neville the Next Evan Bourne?
"@ThisIsNasty one question (if u don't mind)... What's the biggest difference in Neville and Evan Bourne??? Both innovative high flyers to me
— Antwon C. (@11Antwon) May 5, 2015"
Neville has more of a main event ceiling. WWE announcers are committed to putting Neville over as a big deal even in defeat. He's even billed as the "New Sensation." He also has a better physique than Bourne and a cooler finish, if you can believe that.
Neville's offense is a non-stop array of crowd-pleasing moves, and he dishes out a lot of punishment for a smaller, underdog character.
Evan Bourne is the type of WWE Superstar who would have flourished in a cruiserweight division. With Neville, competing as a cruiserweight would have hurt him because he deserves better. Neville holds victories over WWE Superstars twice his size, from Sheamus to Bad News Barrett to Luke Harper.
Even if he's not a perennial world title contender, he's easy to market to children and he will carve out at niche in WWE's wide-open midcard.
Nexus Round Table?
"@ThisIsNasty Idea for a Blog: The pros and cons of King Bad news Barrett, bringing back the Royal Nexus as evil knights of the round table.
— stephenmcknight (@stephen20980378) May 5, 2015"
This is kind of a reach, but when you think of it, the gimmick could actually work. Heath Slater, WWE's ultimate utility man, is currently embroiled in a semi-feud with John Cena but is in more of a comic-relief role. Now that he's shown off more personality since his Nexus days, he'd make the perfect court jester.
The jury is still out on Ryback's ongoing feud with Bray Wyatt, and he actually seems to be an effective babyface, but he could benefit as Barrett's muscle. David Otunga is still under contract with WWE despite being MIA, and Darren Young isn't doing much outside of the occasional comedy bit alongside Titus O'Neil.
Still, I can't help but feel that bringing back The Nexus in any form would hurt Barrett. It would come off like he's desperately clinging to the past to remain relevant. Besides, Barrett has strong enough promo skills to stand on his own and doesn't need a stable.
