Real Madrid Transfer News: Paul Pogba, Zinedine Zidane Link Sparks New Rumours
Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba didn't get on the pitch during his side's Champions League semi-final victory over Real Madrid on Tuesday night, but his potential transfer between the clubs has sparked many headlines across the continent.
Serie A specialist David Amoyal, who writes on behalf of Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio, believes Madrid attempted to use their time against the Turin-based side intelligently:
"Real Madrid has taken advantage of the Champions League semifinal to try to sign Pogba, they had (former Juve player and Real Madrid Castilla coach) Zinedine Zidane help in their efforts so far. It's possible Real Madrid's pursuit continues in coming weeks: the race for Pogba has started.

Amoyal indicated Paris Saint-Germain have offered Pogba €15 million per season, three times what he's receiving at Juve. Di Marzio's website, per Football Italia, suggests he has turned down this approach:
Interestingly, Sky Sports (h/t AS) reports the player's agent was spotted visiting Madrid's hotel.
"The representative was seen leaving the Golden Palace Hotel, where Real Madrid are staying, at around 12:30 p.m," the report suggested. However, it isn't thought that Mino Raiola, the player's representative, met up with Madrid president Florentino Perez.
Raiola recently suggested Pogba's future is rapidly becoming more difficult to judge, per Charles Perrin of the Express: "It's a very delicate moment. I prefer not to talk about Paul. I can only say that my client is liked by all the big and smart clubs."

Pogba continues to recover from a hamstring injury picked up during the Champions League round-of-16 win over Borussia Dortmund in March, as reported by Luke Augustus of the MailOnline. The 22-year-old has made 30 performances in Serie A and Europe this season, scoring eight goals and providing four assists, per WhoScored.com.
He is widely regarded as one of the sport's hottest young talents, particularly as his game is so well-rounded at such an early age. Pogba is powerful, combative and possesses a decent turn of pace, and he's also confident with the ball at his feet.
B/R UK's James McNicholas recently discussed the best landing spots for Pogba:
Amoyal believes the Frenchman will move multiple times throughout his career:
"When people say "Pogba should pick this league because it's better" they forget he's only 22 years old, plenty of time later on

Despite signing a new contract in October, Pogba's name is destined to continue filling the gossip columns during the summer. Inking a new deal allows Juve to protect themselves against losing the player on a cut-price deal and shouldn't be taken as an indication of his commitment to staying.
He is one of a few young players who genuinely deserves the hype he generates, and in the heat of the summer transfer market, it wouldn't be a surprise to see his cost topple the world-record £85 million fee set by Gareth Bale in 2013. Pogba's potential is already producing match-winning results, so it's exciting to see just how far he can progress in the future.

Madrid should be considered serious candidates for most world-class signings. Juventus got the better of them with a 2-1 win on Tuesday but, behind the scenes, progress may be going in favour of the Spanish club.
