Tony Allen Says Stephen Curry's Skill Set Isn't Anything New to Him
Stephen Curry is good. I guess we’ll give him that.
The Golden State Warriors point guard is averaging 31.4 points a game so far in the 2015 postseason, his team hasn't yet dropped a playoff game and the NBA named him its Most Valuable Player on Monday. We get it: He’s not bad at basketball.
But while Curry might’ve had a decent game or two this year, one of his second-round playoff opponents, Memphis Grizzlies 2-guard Tony Allen, isn’t going to sit here and act like he’s impressed. Rather, he thinks Curry’s 2014-15 season is old hat, a decent roll of the dice.
Following the Grizzlies’ practice Monday, Allen stated that Curry is a good-but-not-unique quantity in the NBA, per CSNBayArea.com’s Nate Stuhlbarg. Commenting on Curry’s 2014-15 MVP selection, Allen gave the Warriors star a quadruple-negative golf clap.
“He can shoot the ball pretty good and he got a nice handle,” he said. “But it ain’t nothing I ain’t never seen before.”
Nah, man. Tony Allen’s not shook. He’s not about to rush-order orchids to the Curry household for some limp noodle “Best Basketball Player in the World Right Now” award.

Allen did say that he acknowledges Curry as the MVP. He'll allow that.
"I don't get a vote, but I acknowledge his MVP status," Allen said. "It's well-deserved; I wasn't surprised."
Translation: Good for you, Steph. Good for you. But Tony Allen’s gonna do what Tony Allen does, and that’s make life as miserable for Curry when the Grizzlies line up for Game 2 of their Western Conference playoff series against the Warriors.
The Warriors lead the series 1-0, thanks in part to some league-average dude’s 22 points, seven assists and 50 percent shooting from behind the arc in Game 1.
Dan is on Twitter. He’s convinced Tony Allen heckles magic shows.
