WWE Payback 2015: Superstars Who Will Shine Under PPV Spotlight

Donald WoodMay 4, 2015

The past several weeks of WWE programming have been lackluster at best, but the company has a chance to buck the trend by producing a quality pay-per-view at Payback 2015.

With top wrestlers such as WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt and Rusev all embroiled in intense rivalries, the low expectations from fans could result in a better-than-expected event.

Here are the Superstars who will shine at the 2015 edition of WWE Payback.

Seth Rollins

There are complaints about Rollins taking too many clean losses, but the world champion will have a chance to steal the show at Payback in the Triple Threat main event.

As Rollins proved against Brock Lesnar and John Cena at the 2015 Royal Rumble, he can shine against even the best competition in the world. With both Randy Orton and Roman Reigns performing at high levels right now, Rollins will have the chance to prove his worth as champion.

There is no doubt he will use heel tactics to win, but Rollins can prove he is champion because of just how great he is when he steps inside the squared circle. If Orton and Reigns wrestle a great match, Rollins will be able to put on a show worthy of the main event.

Bray Wyatt

After Bray Wyatt lost to Undertaker at WrestleMania 30 and missed the subsequent Extreme Rules PPV, there is legitimate concern that he could be losing much of the momentum he built on the road to his match against The Deadman.

Ryback has been one of the top midcard faces in the company, but he will be the perfect challenger to take the loss to Wyatt. The hope is that Wyatt can put on a stellar in-ring performance against Ryback and prove to the doubters that he can carry a match.

Expectations will be low because neither Wyatt nor Ryback is known for his ability in the ring. Wyatt taking the lead and putting on a great match would help him earn his stripes, thus proving the WWE’s decision to let him fight Undertaker was justified.

Sheamus

Sheamus returned to WWE programming following WrestleMania with a new heel persona, but in a stunning turn of events, he took the loss in his first PPV match back against Dolph Ziggler. That won’t be the case at Payback.

Ziggler has looked strong, but it is imperative that the WWE builds some heels as viable competitors. Between Rollins being booked weakly and Rusev being made to look like a fool by Cena, the company needs to start caring more about its top heels.

It doesn't hurt bad guys to lose every once in a while, but the company must do a better job protecting Sheamus, especially considering he just turned heel. At Payback, Sheamus should earn a victory over Ziggler and look like an unstoppable force.
