WWE Payback 2015: Stars Under the Most Pressure at PPV

Donald WoodMay 1, 2015

After one of the worst Extreme Rules pay-per-views in recent memory, the WWE will be looking to bounce back with a much better showing at the 2015 edition of Payback on May 17.

While the entire company is under intense pressure heading into the second PPV since WrestleMania, there are a plethora of Superstars like Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt and Bad News Barrett who will be heavily scrutinized.

Here are the wrestlers under the most pressure heading into WWE Payback 2015.

Seth Rollins

It may not be Rollins’ fault, but he has been booked very poorly since winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. He needs a stellar performance at Payback to strengthen his character and legitimize his title reign.

As the world champion, Rollins is under the most pressure to perform well.

Luckily for the titleholder, he will be stepping into the ring in a Triple Threat match with an experienced veteran in Randy Orton and one of the hottest stars in the business in Roman Reigns. That’s quite the support system.

The hope from the WWE Universe is that the Triple Threat match main-events Payback and is given the time needed to tell an interesting story.

With the proper booking, Rollins and the rest of the participants would steal the show.

Bray Wyatt

After being left off the Extreme Rules card, Bray Wyatt is ready to return to action at Payback, where he will likely take on Ryback.

Wyatt needs to bounce back following a loss to Undertaker at WrestleMania 31, and a battle against Ryback would give him a match he should easily win. There is no doubt Wyatt should be victorious, and the pressure would be on him to build momentum moving forward.

There is a vocal minority of the WWE Universe that has criticized Wyatt’s in-ring performances, but helping to carry Ryback to an acceptable PPV match could showcase the skills that Wyatt possesses.

With an elite performance at Payback, Wyatt could once again gain the momentum he had before taking the loss to Undertaker and disappearing from in-ring competition.

Bad News Barrett

Bad News Barrett has the in-ring skill and talent on the mic to be a top star in the company. Durability is a major question mark, but if Barrett can stay healthy, he'd be one of the most valuable wrestlers on the WWE roster.

Now that he is King Barrett, the pressure will be on to live up to the hype.

After spending several years marred in the midcard without a storyline, the basis of the King Barrett character could be its own built-in angle. The key now will be booking him to earn victories instead of losing every match.

Regardless of whether Barrett gets another shot at Daniel Bryan and the Intercontinental Championship or he squares off in the budding rivalry with rookie Neville, there is intense pressure for the English star to perform well at Payback.
