Ottavino Undergoes Tommy John Surgery

The 2015 season of Ottavino has officially come to a close as he had surgery to fix a torn ligament in his throwing elbow, according to Nick Groke of The Denver Post:
""I feel fine," he said. "Everything went as expected."
Ottavino was scheduled to meet with Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Florida, for a final opinion about the partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
If Andrews — the go-to surgeon for injured elbows among major-league pitchers — agreed with Rockies doctors, Ottavino was ready for immediate surgery, he said.
"He's seen more elbows than anybody," Ottavino said. "I plan on coming back next year as strong as I can."

Ottavino ascended to Colorado's closer role and has thrived to the tune of three saves, 13 strikeouts and no earned runs allowed in just over 10 innings. Unfortunately for the 29-year-old reliever, his momentum has suddenly hit a wall.
On April 29, according to the Rockies' official Twitter account, Ottavino had been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a triceps injury:
Ottavino ascended to Colorado's closer role and has thrived to the tune of three saves, 13 strikeouts and no earned runs allowed in just over 10 innings.
With Ottavino on the shelf, John Axford will be the go-to guy in save situations with another former closer in Rafael Betancourt potentially receiving some looks as well.
