WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from April 22
Becky Lynch has spent the better part of the last year as backup to Sasha Banks. The Irish-born Diva finally broke out of the shadow of The Boss prior to Takeover: Rival in February but vanished shortly thereafter.
That all changed Wednesday night when she defeated Charlotte and Bayley to become the new No. 1 contender to the NXT Women's Championship.
It was a signature win for the fiery redhead, and one that puts her on a collision course with the woman who mentored her early in her stint with the brand.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
With Banks on the roll of a lifetime, wrestling some of the best matches in the entire industry, regardless of gender, it will be interesting to see if Lynch performs up to the expectations that will surely accompany the contest.
Lynch was one of the big winners from this week's broadcast, but she was hardly the only one.
Who else escaped the April 22 episode unscathed and riding a wave of momentum as the brand began planting the seeds for its next two-hour live event special?
Who was not quite as lucky?
These are the winners and losers from Wednesday's broadcast.

Winner: Kevin Owens
The best heel in professional wrestling, Owens continued to prove why in Wednesday's main event against Alex Riley.
Even when taking into consideration the fact that the match itself was essentially the same as the first bout between these two competitors, Owens managed to make it entertaining thanks to his explosive offense and his outstanding heel tendencies.
Also, the way he escaped a beating from Zayn, realizing that it was not a fight he wanted to partake in at that moment, was a great bit of psychology to suggest that the former heavyweight champion caught him off guard.
There are few characters as interesting and as layered as Owens is right now. The impending intensification of his program with Zayn should be fun to watch and, more importantly, should lead to another Match of the Year candidate between the former tag team partners.

Loser: Alex Riley
When Alex Riley began his feud with Kevin Owens, it appeared as though his in-ring career was about to be revived.
Instead, he has been thoroughly defeated by the NXT champion on two straight occasions, and now he is lost in the shuffle. There is nowhere else for him to go at this point but down. He has faced the top star on the brand and proved that he is no match for him, so how can fans be expected to believe in him as the equal to the likes of Finn Balor or Hideo Itami?
Sure, it makes sense that Riley, removed from the ring for the better part of four years, would be no match for someone in their athletic prime the likes of Owens. But to be so thoroughly dispatched of only hurts his credibility and leaves him directionless going forward.

Winner: Finn Balor
Rebounding from the loss to Kevin Owens a few weeks back, Finn Balor completely dismantled Tye Dillinger, finishing him off in just two minutes with the Coup de Grace and announcing to the world that he remains one of the biggest threats to the NXT champion.
Balor is a Superstar who remains over, regardless of wins or losses, because of his sheer presence. He is a captivating performer, one who understands the theatrics as much as he does the in-ring work. He is the future of NXT, not to mention a competitor who will one day be the franchise player for WWE.
A dominant win like the one over Dillinger not only recalls the old squash matches that were so prevalent during the days of Wrestling Challenge, it also demonstrated urgency on the part of the international star as he continues to chase championship glory.
