Bayern Munich vs. FC Porto: Winners and Losers from Champions League
Bayern Munich ripped the FC Porto defense to shreds on Tuesday night on their way to a berth in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
Pep Guardiola's men unleashed an attacking fury on the Portuguese side by putting five goals past Porto goalkeeper Fabiano during a 26-minute span in the first half.
Robert Lewandowski scored twice during the dominant period of play, while Thomas Muller, Thiago Alcantara and Jerome Boateng also netted a goal.
Porto pulled one back in the second half through Jackson Martinez, but Bayern responded late in the match by way of a Xabi Alonso free-kick.
Here's a look at the winners and losers from Bayern's thumping of Porto at the Allianz Arena.
Winner: Thiago Alcantara

Thiago produced a fantastic performance in the middle of the pitch on Tuesday night in Munich.
The Spaniard opened up the scoring in the 14th minute with an unexpected header at the near post off a cross from Juan Bernat.
His best display of skill came on the third Bayern goal, as he lofted a perfect ball from the middle of the pitch over to Philipp Lahm on the right wing.
He also bossed the midfield battle with 73 touches, four key passes and a pass accuracy of 80 percent.
The superb night from Thiago came in his sixth game since returning from a year-long injury layoff. It's safe to now say that the Spaniard hasn't missed a beat in the matches following his first appearance of the season against Borussia Dortmund.
Loser: Fabiano

Porto goalkeeper Fabiano endured a long night in between the pipes for the Portuguese side.
Before he let six goals slip into the back of the net, he lucked out in the 10th minute, when his rebound rolled to the feet of Lewandowski. Although Lewandowski drilled the post with his attempt, he would earn payback for the miss later in the half.
Once the goals began to fly past him, Fabiano appeared helpless on multiple occasions as the Bayern attack ran circles around the Porto defense.
Fabiano's concession of six goals came at the worst possible time for his confidence, as a league showdown against Benfica looms Sunday. Porto enter the match in need of three points to level the title race in Portugal's Primeira Liga.
Winner: Robert Lewandowski
3 of 6
The only player to net a brace in the well-balanced Bayern attack was Lewandowski, who found the back of the net in the 27th and 40th minutes.
The Polish forward finished a terrific team move started by Thiago with his head in the 27th minute, while his second strike rolled into the left corner of the net.
He almost put a third goal past Fabiano late in the second half, but his attempt from the middle of the box barely missed the left post.
Lewandowski only recorded 43 touches in the triumphant victory at the Allianz Arena, but he took full advantage of his opportunities, with eight shots in 90 minutes.
Ian Ladyman of the Daily Mail wrote, "Having started so badly in the first leg last week—Bayern were two down early—they needed to reverse things quickly. After 23 minutes they were two goals up and, from that point on, the contest was no longer valid."
He continued, "Lewandowski had already struck the post when Bayern took the lead, left-back Juan Bernat crossing to the near post for Thiago Alcantara to thump in a header. The goal served to break the tension a little and as Porto failed to settle, Bayern began a hypnotic and relentless journey through the gears."
Loser: Ivan Marcano
4 of 6
Things went from bad to worse for Porto in the 87th minute, when Ivan Marcano picked up his second yellow card.
The defender clattered into Thiago near the top of the box and set up a free-kick opportunity for the hosts. Xabi Alonso punished Marcano for his actions a minute later, when he beat Fabiano for Bayern's sixth goal of the match.
Before he was ejected by referee Martin Atkinson, Marcano watched the Bayern attack seamlessly cut through the defensive line created by he and his teammates.
The six goals conceded by Porto on Tuesday night matched the total number of strikes they gave up in all of their previous Champions League matches this season, per Squawka.
Winner: Thomas Muller
5 of 6
When his 36th-minute shot from distance deflected into the back of the net, Thomas Muller achieved another milestone in his amazing career.
The goal was the 27th for Muller in the Champions League, which is an all-time high for any German, per Fox Soccer.
Muller's goal was sandwiched in between the two strikes from Lewandowski, both of which were assisted by the 25-year-old German.
Muller was quoted by BBC Sport as saying, "It couldn't have gone better. Sometimes it's fun to play with your backs against the wall. We all had hopes, but no-one expected that."
If Muller and Lewandowski continue to work this well up top, Bayern could easily be lifting the Champions League trophy in Berlin on June 6.
Loser: Ricardo Quaresma
6 of 6
Ricardo Quaresma surprised us all in the first leg of the quarter-final tie, as he scored two of Porto's three goals at the Estadio do Dragao.
In the important second leg on Tuesday night, Quaresma lasted 45 minutes before he was lifted from the pitch in favor of 18-year-old Ruben Neves.
Quaresma failed to get the attack going, as Bayern dominated the possession battle in the first half. The 31-year-old also failed to make a major impact in his own half with the German side piling on the pressure.
The experienced Portuguese player ended the match with 18 touches, zero shots and a dismal pass accuracy percentage of 50 on eight passes.
