Comparing John Terry's 2014/15 Stats to His 2013/14 Numbers
John Terry signed a new contract last month to keep him at Chelsea for next season.
The former England captain may well be 34 years old, but he remains as strong as ever, playing a big part in Chelsea's pursuit of their first Premier League title in five years.
Or is he?

Stats may not always tell the full story when it comes to a player's form, but over the course of the season they do give us an insight into trends.
The good news for Terry is that he may have aged an extra year since 2013/14, but his numbers this season have only improved.
If anything, the Chelsea captain is getting better.
Terry has scored more goals this season, made less fouls and has been an all-round better defender for Jose Mourinho's side.

Goals scored
Terry's job at Chelsea is to prevent goals going in, but he's proved just as valuable at scoring them at the other end.
The Chelsea defender has scored three times in his 32 Premier League appearances this season, compared to twice in 2013/14.
In terms of the chances he has created, nothing has changed there, with his record currently matching his exploits last term, with five.

Clean sheets/Goals conceded
The goals-scored column may have increased for Terry this season, but it hasn't been detrimental to his contribution at the back.
Last season, Chelsea kept 15 clean sheets in the 34 Premier League games in which Terry featured. This term, after 32 matches, he has already equalled that record.
That said, at the same stage last season, Chelsea had conceded 24 goals, while in 2014/15, their against column reads 26.

Tackle success
Have Chelsea been more charitable at the back this season? Or has Terry gotten himself more involved with his team's play?
Whatever the answer, Terry's work rate has increased. That said, his tackle success rate has gone up with it.
Last season saw the Chelsea skipper make 38 tackles in 34 Premier League outings, winning a total of 47 per cent.
This year has seen a considerable increase. Of his 50 tackles, Terry has won an impressive 66 per cent.
It shows that regardless of age, he hasn't lost those vital defensive instincts.

Disciplinary
Continuing from Terry's increased tackle success, he has also been more disciplined this season. Despite making more tackles and being more involved in defensive play, the number of fouls Terry makes has improved.
Last season, he gave away 14 free-kicks, while this term it has been just 10.
Added to that, Terry has collected just one booking all season. In 2013/14, he received three yellow cards.

Aerial dominance
A big part of Terry's game has been his dominance in the air. There haven't been many attackers who have gotten the better of him down the years, and this season has seen him return to his dominant self.
Last term, Terry won 64 per cent of aerial duels, but this season that has increased to 70 per cent.

Pass accuracy
Chelsea like to mix up their play at different stages of matches. Sometimes, the need to go long and put pressure on teams will see them bypass the midfield, yet at other times Mourinho's men will play from the back.
Terry isn't known for being overly comfortable on the ball in the way some of his peers have made it seem, yet he maintains a high level of passing accuracy.
Last season, he had a success rate of 90 per cent over his 34 Premier League appearances. This season, after 32 matches, it's an equally impressive 89 per cent.

Winning record
The table below outlines Terry's wins, draws and defeats for 2013/14 and the current campaign.
| Apps | Won | Lost | Draw | |
| 2013/14 | 34 | 22 | 6 | 6 |
| 2014/15 | 32 | 23 | 2 | 7 |
