IPL 2015 Results: Scores, Points Table After Latest Cricket T20 Fixtures
Saturday saw two Indian Premier League matches take centre stage, as Sunrisers Hyderabad took on Delhi Daredevils before a repeat of last year’s final as Kings XI Punjab welcomed reigning champions Kolkata Knight Riders to Pune.
With all four sides locked on two points in the IPL table before play got underway and needing a push towards the summit, both the stakes and the tensions were high.
Delhi came into their clash with Sunrisers off the back of a superb victory over Kings XI Punjab, chasing down 165 and withstanding a ferocious bowling attack.
Hyderabad, meanwhile, also had a bit of confidence after pushing Rajasthan Royals all the way in their last match, with the likes of Ravi Bopara producing an excellent display with the ball.
Kolkata and Kings XI have only managed to craft respective wins against bottom side Mumbai Indians so far in IPL 2015 and desperately need to resurrect their 2014 form.
So, it was perfectly poised ahead of the action on Saturday. Read on for full recaps of both of the day’s games, together with an updated table and fixtures list.

Kolkata Knight Riders Put in Bowling Clinic, Beat Kings XI Punjab
3 of 4
Kolkata Knight Riders (159/6) beat Kings XI Punjab (155/9) by four wickets.
Kolkata needed a strong showing from the middle of their order to come from behind and beat Punjab, keeping pace with the IPL leaders as the hunt for the play-offs starts to heat up.
Punjab were desperate for a win entering the contest, but they coudn't have gotten off to a worse start. Murali Vijay was caught on the fourth ball he faced, failing to score a single run, and his team-mates couldn't get any sort of momentum going.
Every time Kings XI appeared to be building a partnership, a timely wicket was taken. Sunil Narine showed glimpses of his brilliance, and ESPN Cricinfo's Freddie Wilde liked what he saw from the West Indies spinner:
Sunil Narine conceded just one boundary in his four overs today. Hugely encouraging performance for #KKR. #IPL #KXIPvKKR #KXIP

The only two batsmen capable of putting significant runs on the board was the star duo of Glenn Maxwell (33/26) and George Bailey (60-45), with the latter in particular picking up the slack.

Even Virender Sehwag and Thisara Perera were easy targets for the Knight Riders bowlers, led by Umesh Yadav, who grabbed three wickets.
Morne Morkel, Narine and Company all had positive outings, although Punjab's horrendous performance with the bat may have influenced their numbers. The target of 156 looked quite manageable, Especially with Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir opening for Kolkata.

The Knight Riders had a decent start to their innings, but soon, Sandeep Sharma started working his magic. The 21-year-old took four wickets in total, including back-to-back dismissals of Gambhir and Ryan ten Doeschate, putting Kolkata well behind the required run rate with limited wickets available.
Wilde was none too impressed with Gambhir in particular:
That’s an awful innings from Gautam Gambhir. When you’ve used that many balls you just have to fight on through. #IPL #KXIPvKKR #KXIP #KKR
— Freddie Wilde (@fwildecricket) April 18, 2015
Yusuf Pathan was hardly effective as well, and the task of guiding Kolkata back fell on the shoulders of Andre Russell. The West Indies star responded beautifully, producing a number of fantastic innings to keep his team in the match. Pathan started to heat up as well, and soon enough, victory was well within reach.
Russell was dismissed in the 18th with just one run needed to win, but on the very next delivery, Piyush Chawla scored a four to end the match. Russell took high-fives from all of his team-mates, finishing with 66 from 36.
Bailey could only praise the wonderful performance of Russell, via ESPN Cricinfo:
"I am okay. We were 20 runs short with the bat, we missed a few catches and dropped a couple of run outs. Full credit to Russell. We did do either of the disciplines well. Russell threw away our plans. Yusuf reined in his natural game and played along with Russell. We need a kick up the backside. We are playing two top teams - Chennai and Rajasthan. If that doesn't do it. Nothing will do it.
"
Punjab continue their slide down the standings and have some ground to cover to finish in the top four and enter the play-offs. And with Kolkata's bowling starting to round into form, it seems Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and the Knight Riders may be locks for the top three spots.
Delhi Daredevils Edge out Sunrisers Hyderabad in Thriller
4 of 4
Delhi Daredevils (164/7) bt. Sunrisers Hyderabad (163/8) by four runs
Sunrisers Hyderabad were beaten right at the death once again, as the Delhi Daredevils saw them off by just four runs in a stunning encounter in Match 10.
Delhi scored 167/4 from their 20 overs, and although Sunrisers made hard work of the chase, they pushed DD all the way and needed a six from the final ball to claim victory.
As it was, though, the Daredevils’ bowlers proved too strong as they limited Hyderabad to 163 runs and moved up to four points in the table.
The Daredevils won the toss and elected to bat, with Mayank Agarwal and Shreyas Iyer opening up, but it wasn’t long before the former was given his marching orders at the hands of Shikhar Dhawan at slip off the bowling of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
However, Delhi’s progress wasn’t halted, as Iyer and his new partner JP Duminy came into their own and both chalked up half-centuries to steady the Daredevils’ ship.
Iyer was eventually caught by David Warner, who took two catches on the night, off the bowling of Praveen Kumar, while Duminy was bowled by Dale Steyn—taking two stumps out of the ground in the process.
The platform was laid for the middle order to hike the team’s total up, but none of Yuvraj Singh, Angelo Mathews and Kedar Jadhav could get out of the teens.
So, 168 was the score for Sunrisers, who came into the innings with an aggressive style.
Warner and Dhawan started things off with a 50 partnership before both of their wickets fell in the seventh over.
Step up, Ravi Bopara.
The Englishman was in scintillating form with the bat, finding boundaries and making the Daredevils sweat.
However, following the Sunrisers’ timeout, Bopara registered one more six before slogging the ball straight into the grateful hands of Manoj Tiwary on the boundary off Duminy's part-time off-spin.
Eoin Morgan’s dismal form continued as he was then sent packing for just one run, bowled by Duminy, leaving Ashish Reddy and Karn Sharma to try to chalk up 30 runs.
The boundaries came thick and fast for the duo but a strange decision to run from Sharma saw Reddy run out with just nine runs required.
Delhi then edged over the line, but they owed a lot of their victory to the brilliant fielding of Agarwal. The Indian launched himself over the boundary as a potential six nearly went over his head, before parrying it into play and restricting Sunrisers to two runs when the six would have tied the scores.
That left Sharma with the job of hitting six runs from the final ball, but he ended up slogging Nathan Coulter-Nile's delivery straight into the hands of Mathews on 163 to end proceedings.
So, the Sunrisers were subject to yet another last-ball defeat, but they can take a great deal of encouragement into their upcoming fixtures.
As for the Delhi Daredevils, they rode their luck at times but produced the goods with the ball when it really mattered.
Such resilience could make them a strong force in this year’s IPL, and they’ll have the chance to prove as much against table-toppers Rajasthan Royals in their next fixture.
