6 Best Choices for Next Guest on Chris Jericho's WWE Network Podcast

Aaron BowerApr 17, 2015

It's been confirmed that Chris Jericho's Live with Chris Jericho podcast is going to get an extended run on the WWE Network, after positive figures for his first show with John Cena.

Those who are familiar with Jericho's podcasting history will know that he's done a number of shows with past and present WWE stars in the past, but it's here where his podcasts will get the most attention.

They're going to be well-watched and viewed by lots of people, and after it looks like he's replacing Steve Austin as the WWE's podcaster on the Network, thoughts may now turn toward who Jericho will be grilling next.

Cena was a credible candidate to start off with due to his overwhelming popularity, but plenty of other names could be in the mix for the next guest.

Daniel Bryan

If Chris Jericho is going to continue down his path of interviewing the biggest stars currently working in the WWE, he couldn't pick a better candidate than Daniel Bryan.

Jericho has already grilled Bryan on all things wrestling on his podcast in the past, but to do it on the WWE Network would produce some tasty hits for the company.

Given Bryan's recent withdrawal from the rest of the WWE's European tour too, it would not only be entertaining and noteworthy but also topical.

The two have recent history inside the ring too, as you can see from the video above. It was Jericho who provided the first test for Bryan on the main roster, when he was competing in the first season of NXT alongside Wade Barrett, who was Jericho's rookie.

The insight into the injuries, how tough times were throughout those periods and so much more makes Bryan a captivating choice for Jericho's next slot.

Paul Heyman

There's no doubting that if Chris Jericho and the WWE could rope Paul Heyman into appearing on Live with Chris Jericho, the sparks would fly.

At the moment though, Heyman is away from WWE TV with Brock Lesnar, so bringing him on at the current time could be unrealistic.

However, if the WWE opted to forget about Heyman's absence and bring him back as a WWE Network exclusive, it would be well worth the while.

With a history in the wrestling industry like few others can boast, Heyman can spill the beans on a number of topics that would be worth listening to.

In fact, you'd probably need two or three shows to cram in all of Heyman's mouth-watering stories from his time in multiple wrestling factions.

Stephanie McMahon

Figures of authority always make interesting participants on talk shows and podcasts, and that leads nicely onto the next potential candidate for Jericho to interview on the WWE Network.

Stephanie McMahon had more than a few confrontations with Jericho during the latter's time in WWE, with more than a fair bit of tension present on occasions.

But as Vince McMahon was a guest on Steve Austin's podcast, would Jericho be wise to interview his daughter and continue the talk about what happens backstage?

There's no doubting that the likes of Vince and Triple H made for captivating interviews, because the segments allowed fans to find out more about what goes on behind the scenes.

All in all, Stephanie would be a smart choice.

The Rock

4 of 6

The first star Jericho crossed paths with in WWE was none other than The Rock, and out of all Y2J's feuds in WWE, he seemed to have the most chemistry with The Great One.

They were both unmistakably brilliant on the microphone, which led to some fascinating and engaging spats both in and out of the ring.

And with The Rock not active in the day-to-day running of WWE anymore, would he make a good guest in the way that he could shoot off a bit more?

Obviously, the WWE would be controlling the output, but perhaps The Rock would be more relaxed to talk about the past as opposed to someone who is currently active on the WWE roster.

Shawn Michaels

5 of 6

Throughout his wrestling career, Chris Jericho has had some incredible feuds. Dean Malenko was one such example during his time in WCW, while in WWE, the likes of Christian, CM Punk and The Rock have all had great rivalries with Y2J.

But in terms of the hype, momentum and prestige, no feud in Jericho’s career can top the one he’s had with Shawn Michaels.

Michaels has had a fascinating career with plenty of stories and tales that are waiting to be told. Should Jericho and the WWE be able to lure Michaels onto his show, he would be a great guest.

And just like with The Rock, the fact he’s not actively involved with WWE every day would mean he could potentially open up and let fans know about such an iconic career.

Vince McMahon...Again

6 of 6

Although Steve Austin managed to coax some pretty big statements out of Vince McMahon in his podcast, there was a general feeling that he could have got a bit more out of the boss.

The “brass rings” statement inevitably stands out, but there was an impression that Vince wasn’t grilled enough, which means he potentially held things back.

So why not let Jericho have a go at the boss and see if he can lure anything out of McMahon in his own show?
