Louis Van Gaal Has Ensured Manchester United Fans Don't Care About Jurgen Klopp
There was a time, not so long ago, when Manchester United fans would have gone berserk at the news Jurgen Klopp was set to leave Borussia Dortmund.
Certainly this time last year. Maybe even as recently as three months ago. Every tweet sent out by the club's official account would have been met with thousands of replies saying simply "Get Klopp."
But when the news broke on Wednesday, it was Manchester City fans who got themselves all excited. The response from the other side of the city was more, "So what?"

The reaction from United supporters, most of them anyway, is all down to Louis van Gaal.
When things aren't going well, the grass always looks greener.
But it's going so well for Van Gaal at Old Trafford, after six successive league wins including victories over Liverpool and Manchester City, that the supporters aren't bothered if one of the most coveted coaches in the world goes elsewhere.
It's the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement that they've been content. There were always doubts about David Moyes, even from the start. And it's taken time for Van Gaal to win them over after an inconsistent start to the season.

He was set the task of getting United back into the Champions League, a target that now looks set to be met. And there's a genuine belief that, with the right recruitment in the summer, they're capable of mounting a serious title challenge next season.
Importantly, Van Gaal has proved he can mastermind wins in the biggest games. It's been a long time since a United team has played so well at Anfield, and more than four years since Manchester City were beaten at Old Trafford.
It's led to a feeling that Van Gaal is the right man for the job, regardless of whoever might be available.

Having led Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League final, Klopp was one of the popular choices to replace Ferguson in 2013, along with Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola.
But Guardiola had already joined Bayern Munich and Mourinho eventually returned to Chelsea. Klopp stayed where he was and United ended up with Moyes. Van Gaal, then in charge of Holland, was barely mentioned as a possibility.
Nearly two years later and Klopp is finally available. But there's no clamour from United fans, no desperate tweets hoping to catch the attention of Ed Woodward and the Glazers. It's taken nearly two years, but the majority are happy. They've already got their man.
