Masters 2015 Tee Times: List of Pairings and Schedule Info for Friday

Sean ODonnellApr 10, 2015

Due to some pristine conditions during Round 1 of the 2015 Masters, the usually dangerous Augusta National yielded some pretty low numbers to a good portion of the field.

Thirty players finished Thursday under par. Included in that group are Justin Rose, Patrick Reed, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson and Rory McIlroy. However, none of those players were able to come close to Jordan Spieth's brilliant eight-under 64—a score that put him just one stroke shy of tying the course record and low round in a major.

According to Weather.com, conditions may not be quite as friendly Friday—especially to players with afternoon tee times, as a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected at that time. Needless to say, early tee times will come with a great advantage for Round 2.

Players to Watch in Round 2

Luck continues to favor Spieth entering Round 2 of the Masters. With an earlier tee time, he should miss the brunt of any bad weather Friday, giving him another opportunity to post a low number. This has already been a trend for the 21-year-old phenom at Augusta this year.

During the dangerous Amen Corner, Spieth wasn't showing his top form. Instead, he relied on some friendly bounces off the pines, some fortunate landing locations for errant shots and even a sunk birdie putt off a misread. Golf is a fickle game, and that stretch of three holes was a great example of how good fortunes can come into play at times.

Spieth spoke of his luck during his post-round press conference, via Mike McAllister of PGATour.com:

"

The easiest thing to do is just to be OK and laugh [the lucky shots] off. The hardest thing to do is grind and try and take advantage of them and pick that next shot or that next putt that's going to take advantage and turn that into a birdie.

That's what we did a really good job of today.

"

Of course, only a small portion of Spieth's round had to do with lucky shots, as he was absolutely on fire the rest of the way, hitting 10 of a possible 14 fairways, 15 greens in regulation and accumulating just 26 putts. If he can continue his hot streak on Day 2, he could begin to run away with the tournament.

There are four players currently at five-under par giving chase to Spieth, and the one to emerge as a threat to the phenom may surprise you—it's 46-year-old Ernie Els.

The South African played a brilliant opening round Thursday, accumulating five birdies, one eagle and two bogeys. Els was magnificent off the tee during Round 1, setting himself up for plenty of birdie opportunities. He'll have a very fair chance to continue that trend Friday, as his 8:40 a.m. ET tee time will ensure he misses most, or all, of the impending bad weather.

Here's what Els had to say about his round following Thursday's action:

One player to watch who isn't currently in the mix but certainly could be by the end of Day 2 is former world No. 1 Tiger Woods.

Coming into the Masters, Woods' game was all over the place. Following a rash of injuries, swing alterations and even the yips around the green, he plummeted down the world-golf rankings to No. 111—his lowest ranking since 1995.

Well, he began to show some of his old form Thursday during his one-over 73 performance. Those yips appeared to be long gone, as Woods' short game looked great, and he commented on that area during a press conference, via Brian Wacker of PGATour.com:

"It's my strength again. That’s why I've busted my butt. That's why I took time off. That's why I hit thousands and thousands of shots to make sure that it's back to being my strength."

Those are some confident words from Woods, and if he gets the bounce back in his step, the rest of the field could be in trouble. After all, he's no stranger to building some momentum and catapulting up leaderboards—especially in majors.

Aside from some errant shots on the ninth hole, Woods looked completely in control of his game Thursday. With an earlier tee time Friday, he'll have an opportunity to take advantage of good scoring conditions and move himself into contention before the weekend.

Is Tiger back? We'll know in short order.
