The Authority Needs to Remain Strong During Seth Rollins' WWE Title Reign

Alfred KonuwaApr 10, 2015

Seth Rollins spent much of Raw yelling at Kane.

Both the Big Show and Rollins achieved career milestones at WrestleMania 31, and Kane's shortcomings became a talking point.

The Director of Operations seems to be on his way out of The Authority, and if so, it's a bad move. Rollins is a first-time champion with a slimy character. He needs all the support he can get from a heel faction both to create heat and come off as a bigger deal.

Rollins should theoretically be on the same page as the Director of Operations. On the latest PodNasty Wrestling Podcast, I noted that in order for a smaller heel to keep the title in his possession, having assistance from authority figures is almost a must. If The Authority begins to fall apart, Rollins won't be as effective as champion.

Being flanked by J&J Security is a plus, but on their own they're a comedy duo. If Rollins continues the theme of driving Authority members away through a spoiled attitude, it won't be as easy to take him seriously with his buffoonish bodyguards.

Rollins' ongoing feud with Orton stems from Orton's own ousting from The Authority at the hands of Rollins. If Kane's next, this will further a pattern that will reduce the effectiveness of The Authority.

If Kane is eventually stripped of his power, he will serve little to no purpose in WWE as a monster heel at the end of his career. Suddenly, problems within The Authority will supersede the major story of Rollins' ongoing championship reign.

The upside of Kane as a babyface is far below that of Kane as a heel, helping Rollins win matches and putting him in advantageous situations. Kane's potential exit makes The Authority look vulnerable as a whole. One of their most powerful members is not on the same page as the hand-picked world champion. This reflects poorly on both Rollins and The Authority.

Per the storyline, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H were on vacation, thus missing Raw. Their return cannot come soon enough. Rollins continuing to benefit from the most powerful figures in wrestling needs to be a point of emphasis so he is easier to dislike.

Fans are still getting acclimated to Rollins consistently headlining pay-per-views. The more he is associated with Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, especially as champion, the better.

The Rollins dynasty needs to come off as an impenetrable force. Having the support of WWE's evil empire will give Rollins the unfair advantage he needs throughout Roman Reign's babyface chase for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Now's not the time for The Authority to show vulnerability. In fact, morale should be higher than ever among The Authority. Their anointed future of the WWE is finally WWE World Heavyweight champion. For Rollins to have an effective title reign, it's important that they all just get along.
