Final Four 2015: Schedule, Bracket, TV Info and Predictions

Chris RolingApr 4, 2015

The wait for what may be one of the most memorable editions of the Final Four in history is over.

One game features Kentucky, the team some might mistake for an NBA squad. Wisconsin stands opposite of the Wildcats and hopes its abilities on the low block and clock-consuming ways are the necessary Kryptonite to advance.

The other features the always-present Duke with three star freshmen set to take the stage in a forceful manner to counteract the defensive minded, technically sound Michigan State Spartans.

It has been a long week of waiting, but the break has provided plenty of time to break down the action. Even better, it is sure to give way to the best possible basketball.

Latest Chatter and Predictions

Start with the early game, where Michigan State will look to counteract Duke freshman sensation Jahlil Okafor.

Okafor's the big man no team wants to encounter if it can avoid it, as he averages 17.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.4 blocks per game. He's also the focal point of a Mike Krzyzewski-led attack only continuing to mature by the round.

He told The Associated Press (via ESPN.com) the spotlight helps with the process.

"I think all the attention on myself and the team has really made us grow up a lot faster," Okafor said. "It's something I've become accustomed to my entire life. I've had a lot of attention on me, and coming to Duke University has been an entire new level. It's just really prepared us to get where we are now."

The Spartans don't have anyone who can bang well down low with Okafor. He's a terror in the utmost sense, utilizing a vast array of moves to score and passing out with ease to the open man when a double-team comes down.

Hence why it matters little his point totals haven't been staggering in Duke's last two outings. Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports believes Okafor is due:

Further seeming to throw things in Duke's favor is the fact two of Okafor's fellow freshmen continue to put on strong performances. Tyus Jones stepped up with 15 points apiece in wins against Utah and Gonzaga. Justise Winslow scored 21 and 16 in those matchups.

None of this is to suggest Michigan State doesn't stand a chance, but the Spartans do rank No. 46 in adjusted defensive efficiency at KenPom.com and figure to struggle against a team ranking third in the offensive counterpart.

While an interesting chess match, it pales in comparison to the Kentucky-Wisconsin showdown.

If there's a team built to beat the undefeated Wildcats, it would be these Badgers.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish took the Wildcats to the brink in the last round thanks to a shot-happy approach and converting on 46.4 percent of attempts from the floor. Highlighting the obvious way to beat the Wildcats was the Fighting Irish's ability to get their big men out of the paint, clearing one of Karl-Anthony Towns or Willie Cauley-Stein out of the way.

Wisconsin can mirror the approach with no issue. Frank Kaminsky, who averages 18.2 points, shoots 42 percent from long range and just poured in 29 against Arizona, can help spread the floor and open the lane.

So too can running mate Sam Dekker, who shoots well from anywhere on the floor and added 27 of his own against Arizona despite a season average of 13.9.

Here's the major problem for Wisconsin: Kentucky knows what's coming and has had plenty of time to prepare.

Saturday's showdown isn't on a quick turnaround. There has been time to study, practice and prepare. Ample, really. John Calipari knows a thing or two about keeping a talented team bogged down by expectations firing on all cylinders, too, as ESPN.com's Myron Medcalf captures:

"

We're concerned about us, to be honest with you, I talked to them last night again. We have one job. Individually it's to be the best version of yourself. Get yourself mentally and physically prepared to be your best. We have to play at our best. That's the best we can do. I can't ask them for anything else. I told them, "I don't know the outcome. I can't promise you the outcome. But I do know our chances are best if you're the best version of you and we're our best as a team. Things are going to go crazy. We'll adjust. We've done it all year. If I can count on you for effort, you can count on us for adjustments."

"

The fact is, Calipari's platoon is alive and well and will help to counteract the concoction the Badgers have brewed up for an upset bid.

Towns averages just 10.1 points, yes, but on just 20.8 minutes per night. Ten Kentucky players average double-digit-minute figures, and at least eight of them could be starters on most of the teams in the bracket.

It's an insurmountable amount of depth the Badgers won't be able to overcome barring a historic shooting night. Given the size, athleticism and depth of Kentucky at each position, the only team charging toward history after Saturday will be the Wildcats.

Predictions: Duke 76, Michigan State 73; Kentucky 74, Wisconsin 70
