Manchester United Transfer News: Angel Di Maria to Snub PSG, Latest Rumours
Manchester United’s record signing Angel Di Maria is reportedly ready to turn down interest from French champions Paris Saint-Germain as he looks to rekindle his career in English football.
The Argentinian international has endured a turbulent time of things with the Red Devils, sparking speculation he could be on the way out of Old Trafford after a solitary season. But according to a source cited in The Sun (h/t Alex Harris of the Daily Star), the player is determined to make things work at United:
"None of this business about PSG is coming from Angel and he has no interest in going there.
It is true things have not gone as he would have liked so far, but he is determined to make it work at United.

According to Harris’ piece, the Ligue 1 giants tried to sign the midfielder last summer, but Financial Fair Play rules hindered them in their pursuit and paved the way for a switch to the Premier League. It’s also noted a burglary at the player’s Cheshire home has hindered Di Maria as his family look to adapt to life in England.
Bleacher Report's Thom Gibbs took a closer look at some of the other reasons why the 27-year-old may be struggling:
His poor form and off-field problems have apparently sparked interest from the French club once again, with John Cross of the Daily Mirror reporting PSG would be willing to match the £59.7 million sum United paid to sign the player last summer.
Paul Hayward of The Telegraph thinks if such an offer does materialise, the decision is an easy one for the Red Devils:
But it seems as though Di Maria isn’t ready to turn his back on the Premier League yet. After all, in the very early days of his United career, the former Real Madrid man was absolutely magnificent, hauling the Red Devils through games with his dynamic displays at the heart of midfield, which bristled with stunning goals and intricate assists.

In fairness to Di Maria, while he’s not been anywhere near his very best as of late, as we can see here courtesy of Squawka Football, when he’s out on the pitch, he typically tends to make a telling positive impact in a game:
That’s the foundation upon which United should look to reignite Di Maria’s form, and while they fared superbly without the Albiceleste man in the starting line-up for wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, the system deployed by Louis van Gaal in those two matches is far better suited to the attributes of their record signing.

As noted by Sam Pilger of FourFourTwo last month, it’s been quite a culture shock for Di Maria, too:
There’s a wonderful player in there somewhere, and while Di Maria’s natural capriciousness means he’s not the kind of midfielder you can build a team around, provide the correct platform for him and the results can be pretty spectacular. It’s something Van Gaal did earlier in the season and a blend he’ll surely look to recapture in the run-in.
The 4-3-3 system being deployed at the moment could be an excellent start, given it’s the formation in which Di Maria was so devastatingly effective for Real Madrid last season.
A prolonged run in a settled position coupled with the player’s apparent desire to make things work in the Premier League should point to a brighter United future for the Argentina star.
