Surgery Expected; Getting Second Opinion
Wednesday, April 1
Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports Crow is going to get a second opinion on his damaged elbow but isn't expecting the outlook to change. He also passed along comments from the right-hander about the disappointing setback.
"It sucks," Crow said. "It kind of makes it worse coming over here and before I even got a chance to help the team out I get hurt and never have an opportunity this year."
He was acquired from the Kansas City Royals in a trade last November. He was expected to take on a key role in the Miami bullpen with a career 3.43 ERA over four seasons. The report notes Sam Dyson will likely take his place on the roster.
If the second opinion confirms Tommy John surgery is needed, Crow would miss all of 2015 and potentially the early portion of the 2016 campaign.
