Liverpool Transfer News: Raheem Sterling Demands Revealed Amid Arsenal Rumours
Raheem Sterling's long-term future at Anfield remains far from certain, and it was reported on Wednesday that Liverpool will have to more than quadruple his wages to tie the 20-year-old to a new and improved long-term deal.
Rumours have abounded surrounding apparent interest from Arsenal in the young England international, as Sterling stalls on committing to Liverpool, per Metro's Jamie Sanderson.
Sterling's current contract runs until 2017, but ESPN FC reports the Reds have attempted to extend his deal to 2020, offering him terms worth around £100,000-a-week.

This is a massive increase on his current £35,000-a-week salary, but ESPN FC reports that "through his agent, Aidy Ward, [Sterling] is understood to have asked for closer to £150,000-a-week, a wage that would put him among the top earners at Anfield."
Indeed, such terms would put him up there with star striker Daniel Sturridge, who is currently on £150,000-a-week since signing a new contract in October 2014, per Simon Rice in The Independent.
According to The Independent's Jack Pitt-Brooke, Liverpool will not budge from their current offer, and will listen to offers for their forward in the summer should he demand more:
However, ESPN FC's report indicates the Reds will hang on to Sterling, even if he doesn't agree new terms, as Liverpool will make money on him even when his contract expires, as he will still be under 24.
Sterling has been tentatively valued at around £50 million, per Neil Custis in The Sun, and along with Arsenal, the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid have been named as potential suitors, per Nicholas Godden on MailOnline.
Sterling is undoubtedly one of Liverpool and England's star players, and he is a fantastic prospect for the foreseeable future.
Not only will the Reds hierarchy and Liverpool fans wish to see him remain at Anfield, but English football fans should wish to see him stay in the Premier League, per football reporter Pilib de Brun:
However, Liverpool may have a fight on their hands to persuade Sterling to commit to the club past 2017, after which he could move anywhere.
The constant speculation surrounding Sterling is not set to end any time soon, with Brendan Rodgers recently confirming contract negotiations have been put on hold until the end of the season, per The Guardian.
But it looks as though one of the parties, either the club or the player, will have to budge at some point if a resolution is to be found.
