WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from March 25

Erik BeastonMar 26, 2015

Kevin Owens remains one of the most intriguing characters in all of World Wrestling Entertainment, proving why once again Wednesday night, as he defended the NXT Championship against No. 1 contender Finn Balor in the main event of the developmental brand's latest episode.

As vicious as he is calculating, he not only used his strength advantage to overpower Balor, but he out-wrestled him—something few would believe he was capable of.

Capitalizing on a knee injury suffered when Balor dove over the top rope and smashed his leg into the entrance ramp, Owens was able to withstand the Coup De Grace from his opponent, a maneuver that only exacerbated that injury, and delivered the powerbomb to secure the win.

An old-school heel who has clear motivation for doing the vile things he does, Owens is a rare breed in today's WWE. He is not a coward, he does not resort to cartoonish cheating to win. He beats his opponents clean and holds the NXT Championship with pride, something the viewer can see in the way he cradles the title as if it were one of his children.

His stellar performance against Balor earned him "winner" honors this week.

Who joined him on an episode so strong that losers were nonexistent?

Take a look for yourself.

Winner: Emma

Emma's struggles on the main roster are apparent to anyone with two eyes. She can barely get on television and when she did, she was treated like a comedy act, not allowed to prove her talents in front of the WWE Universe in any significant way.

Now, after what has to have been a frustrating few months for the Aussie Diva, she appears to be on her way to a storyline she can sink her teeth into. It's an angle that will not only give her something meaningful to do, but it's something she can channel that frustration into.

Wednesday night, she warned Bayley about the NXT fans and the way they "lie" to the performers. Bayley did not want to hear it, and her refusal to listen to what she was being told resulted in a swift, hard slap to the face.

Emma is an immensely talented worker who is looking for that one storyline that will allow her to prove to critics, fans and management that she is more than a bubble-popping klutz. Based on the early returns from her attitude change, she appears to be on the right path.

Winner: Alexa Bliss

Everyone is aware of Sasha Banks' recent string of outstanding performances between the ropes, firmly establishing her stranglehold on the title of best overall in-ring worker on the NXT Divas roster. But Wednesday night, Alexa Bliss demonstrated the ability and promise of a young woman poised to break out in 2015, perhaps becoming the next big babyface star of the Divas division.

While Banks filled the role of tenacious heel during her title defense this week, Bliss channeled her inner Rey Mysterio, withstanding the early onslaught and nearly catching the champion napping on a few occasions.

Ultimately, Bliss fell in defeat, but she, arguably, gained as much in defeat as she would have in victory. Now, she has earned the respect of the NXT Universe, as evidenced by the reaction they gave her throughout the contest.

And once one wins over the passionate, diehard fans inside Full Sail University, they win them over for good.

As long as Bliss continues to work hard and improve, she has a future ahead of her as sparkling as the glitter she unleashes during her entrance.

Winner: Finn Balor

The Irish-born Superstar wrestled the biggest match of his NXT career to date, challenging Kevin Owens in the main event for the brand's top prize, the NXT Championship. While he was unsuccessful in his attempt to unseat the former Ring of Honor standout as the top dog on the brand, he did prove something even more important for his prospects as the future of WWE: He is the most main roster-ready of the developmental talent.

Balor's timing, striking, comebacks and undeniable knack for theatricality make him a prime candidate for a main roster promotion in the weeks after WrestleMania 31.

That may be a disappointment for those fans who want to see him remain in NXT, warring with Owens and Adrian Neville, Sami Zayn and Hideo Itami in Match of the Year candidates. But Triple H has done a phenomenal job of bringing him along, essentially letting him be the same guy he was in Japan, Europe and Mexico, where he achieved the type of success that earned him the attention of WWE in the first place.

It is safe to say that someone like Balor, who fits the image that the COO has for the developmental brand, will fare much better than someone like Adam Rose, who The Game inherited when he took over.

It may not happen immediately, it may not even happen before SummerSlam, but sooner or later, Balor will be wowing WWE fans on Raw and SmackDown, working with the top stars in the industry en route to establishing himself as an elite star in Vince McMahon's sports entertainment circus.
