WWE WrestleMania 31 Matches: Full Breakdown, Predictions for Entire Card
After months of waiting, WWE WrestleMania 31 is almost here.
The hype, drama and intrigue have led to this moment, and while there have been some patchy moments along the way, the biggest pay-per-view of the year should be sensational.
With Sting's long-awaited WWE debut and plenty of star power in the WWE's two midcard championship matches, there is much to be excited about.
The WWE World Heavyweight Championship match could have a whole host of endings, while the next big star could emerge in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
So with less than a week to go until the big show, let's take a look at some final predictions of how things could unfold.
AJ Lee and Paige vs. The Bella Twins
1 of 8
The sole Divas match on the card at WrestleMania features arguably the four leading lights in terms of female wrestlers on the main roster.
However, the Divas Championship will not be involved, which is a bit of a shame, as we don't often see enough coverage of that particular title as it is. This tag match does feel a little forced, and it would come as no surprise if it opened the night's proceedings.
The one positive is that both teams have had the upper hand on occasions heading into their match at WrestleMania, but still it looks likely that the two babyfaces will emerge victorious.
Whether there's a turn somewhere remains to be seen, but AJ Lee and Paige will pick up the win in an unspectacular match.
Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
2 of 8
After Cesaro's spectacular success in the inaugural Battle Royal last year, this year's winner surely hopes he won't suffer as poor a booking run as Cesaro had.
Cesaro seemed on top of his game when he eliminated Big Show to win the match last year and received a thunderous reaction when he showed up the night after on Raw.
So who looks like a potential winner this year?
The match hasn't had a whole lot of hype, which makes it hard to gauge anyone going into it with serious momentum.
Damien Mizdow will almost certainly complete his turn on The Miz during the match, probably by eliminating him. And while he would be a shrewd pick, there are other credible candidates.
The events of the NXT tournament at WrestleMania Axxess will probably give us another strong contender, especially if Adrian Neville emerges to take a spot in the match. He seems ready for his move to the main roster now, and if WWE is going to give young talent a real WrestleMania moment, this could be Neville's time.
Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match
3 of 8
The match many people have waited for on the card at WrestleMania this year is the defence of Bad News Barrett's Intercontinental Championship.
Although the champion hasn't been on a real superb run of late, he's embroiled in a storyline that is helping to give the IC title serious prestige again.
There is some real heavyweight talent in this match, not least the likes of Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose and Daniel Bryan. That makes picking a winner very hard indeed.
There's a legitimate claim for most men in the match to win the belt, but the likely victor is Daniel Bryan. Bryan is still the most popular guy in WWE, and another WrestleMania moment would only further his cause.
With WWE clearly indicating in recent weeks that it wants to boost the profile of its midcard championships, Bryan is a sound pick.
John Cena vs. Rusev
4 of 8
Unfortunately, the most straightforward prediction of the night comes in the United States Championship match.
Rusev's undefeated streak looks certain to come to an end at the hands of John Cena, with Cena highly unlikely to lose on The Grandest Stage of Them All.
There has been some intrigue building toward this match, especially Lana's suspicious absence in the last couple of weeks. That creates an interesting dynamic in itself, and with plenty of interest in this match, Cena seems certain to get his hands on the U.S. title once again.
And if Daniel Bryan holds the Intercontinental Championship, the WWE's midcard titles will suddenly be pinned on two of its biggest stars.
Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins
5 of 8
Randy Orton's recent turn on Seth Rollins capped off an explosive little run since his return to WWE television, and his match with Rollins at WrestleMania will certainly catch the eye.
With Rollins likely to be flanked by Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury at ringside, there is sure to be plenty going on, which will make for interesting viewing.
It's vital that WWE keeps hammering home Orton's malicious, sadistic side, regardless of his babyface turn.
Rollins could have a part in another match later on in the night, but here is where he will really shine.
The two men will have plenty of time inside the ring to showcase their skills, and picking a winner is tough. However, my guess is Orton's impressive run will continue.
Expect it to be a win that comes with plenty of drama, though.
The Undertaker vs. Bray Wyatt
6 of 8
Will The Undertaker's shock loss at WrestleMania 30 last year—the last time he was seen on WWE TV—be avenged this year?
This is an interesting match to follow, not least because of the amount of work Bray Wyatt has done in promoting it.
The Undertaker's absence from television will create a bit of a buzz when he finally appears, and there's also an interesting subplot to follow with Wyatt. He has plenty of potential when it comes to moving forward. His talent in the ring and on the microphone makes him a potential world title candidate in the future.
Here, though, it seems impossible that The Undertaker will succumb to a second consecutive loss at WrestleMania.
Hopefully Wyatt comes out of the match looking strong.
Sting vs. Triple H
7 of 8
After years and years of waiting, the opportunity to see Sting compete in a WWE ring is almost here.
His rivalry with Triple H has taken a little while to get going, largely because he's been on and off WWE TV in the last few months.
But the explosive scenes that closed Raw last week really hammered home the hype for the match, and with one more edition of Raw to follow, it could get even better.
The match may not be the most free-flowing contest, but the hype, intrigue and star power involved will make it gripping from start to finish.
The Authority are bound to get involved at some point, but Sting losing on his WWE debut seems unthinkable.
Expect an enjoyable contest to culminate with Sting triumphing over adversity and finally delivering on his promise to silence Triple H.
Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns
8 of 8
Although the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match hasn't had a great deal of promotion in recent weeks, there's no doubt it has generated plenty of interest.
WWE fans are split on whether they want Roman Reigns to win, especially after Brock Lesnar re-signed with the company this week.
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross weighed in on the main event after the news via his Twitter account, saying: "The main event at WM31 in San Jose just got 'VERY INTERESTING'...lots of ways to go..just as it should be. @HeymanHustle @WWERollins in play"
There will naturally be talk of Seth Rollins cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase, but should Reigns get the win, don't expect that to happen. WWE has spent a lot of time and invested a lot of faith in Reigns' push to the main event at WrestleMania, and having him lose the title within minutes of winning it doesn't seem likely.
In what could be Lesnar's last WWE match for some time, it seems probable that he will surrender his title after a lengthy run.
Could Paul Heyman play a role in that? It's not beyond the realm of possibility. After all, it's happened before.
